 just bought an 08 tacoma access cab with the 4 liter V6 and the transfer wont go into 4 low. 4 high works just fine but the 4 low just beeps at me and shit. ive tried putting it in 4 high, going in forward and then reverse and then trying again but no luck. im stumped on this one.

Do they still put the little placard on the visor with the instructions?

stop, neutral, then try turning the switch with the clutch out. If that doesn't work try with the clutch in?

How's that, when he has a manual trans?
EDIT: ah, you snuck in the "NM" so I forgive you
Shove the clutch pedal to the floor and try again.

Mine is a 2009 5 speed and my 4L stopped. The dealer said that I have to push the clutch in a little father than normal to enable it.I'll let you know how it works out? But you know what they say"use it or loose it."

haha you have to puch the clutch all the way in, youll notice when you look under by the clutch pedal there is a little button that the clutch has to puch in for 4L to come on and same goes for getting outof 4L. i just put it in neutral, and pushed the clutch in as far as it can go. kind of a PITA but whatever.

I'll try pushing the clutch in all the way. That's probably it since I didn't know there was a switch down there. Thanks for the help

If you have an aftermarket floor mat take it out and try it the clutch has to go ALL the way to the floor.
