Good morning, everyone! Don't forget to flip the sign over on your front door so we know you are still enjoying life on the green side of the grass!!!

We had a party here at the house for a nephew and his wife - deployed to Afghanistan about 2 months after getting married last year. So, we had about 30 people here who couldn't make the wedding in Kentucky. We still have a bit of cleaning up to do but most was finished last night. On the good side, I still have several cases of beer left in the downstairs refrigerator!

If the rain holds off, I also need to cut the grass down by the lake and our old horse fields...about 3 hours worth of riding. As much as it needs to get done....I'm rooting for rain after yesterday's festivities!!

Anyone have interesting plans for today?

    Morining Mark.

After church I will be cutting the lawn then check the caulk on the shed. I might start to paint the shed today but don't count on it. Will probably clean off the workbench in the garage to start the Tacoma Grille replacement project.

read the one post here. mom was in the WAAC. one of my fishing buddies has a better half that came from a poor family. she went into the army,I believe as a nurse. got out, used her GI benefits, and went to college.she is now a retired teacher.there are options. trouble is today-everyone wants everything given to them. I can't find a job,I cant find a job, things are tough! suggest that uncle sam will hire them, and they shut up like a clam.

Times are tough though. You have to be willing to work outside the field you trained or went to school for. I honestly do not know haw the 20 something's will make it in today's economy. Most large corporations treat the labor force as a commodity and not as a valued part of the business. Unfortunately this goes for management and wage earners as well.

Years ago My oldest son complained he couldn't find a job to his liking(wanted a lot of money and a little work to get it) and needed money for car insurance, etc. I told him to suck it up and take any job he could until something better came along-told him "shoveling s*#t:poking: for $2.00 an hour was better than whining about no money:facepalm:!! He got the idea finally and did get a job. Doing okay now. The company I work for is always looking for good technicians to repair fork lifts, and other material handling equipment and with unemployment up you'd think we could get people!!!:notsure: Young kids don't want to get dirty or do physical labor:eek:!!!
Pay and bene's are good. OH weel enough of that rant:rant:!! Everyone have a good Labor Day weekend!! Ken

FINALLY! got the seat setup made for the jon boat. tom could have built 10 sheds by the time it took me to figure this one out.this is one of those small projects that took waaaay too much time. I think I got it right. now I know why they usually just drill holes in the bench seat and go from there. IT'S A HELL OF A LOT EASIER! I must be a glutten for punishment, but I try not to drill any holes when I'm setting up a boat.

Morning, Tom <flipping over my "I'm still alive! sign">.

Had some bad storms during the night - lost power for a few hours but we have an automatic back-up generator that kicked in and kept the fridges and freezer humming. Expecting more rain today so not much chance to do anything outside.

We'll spend some time with my son and grandson before they head home this morning. Mark Jr and I enjoyed applying Rule .303 (obscure movie reference) to a cardboard box yesterday afternoon using the No. 1 Mk. III Enfields we each restored. Mine is a 1917 BSA that I found at a gun show for $45 - it had been totally butchered but the receiver, barrel and trigger mechanism were still good. For a WWI maiden she shoots like a dream....although my shoulder is a bit worse for the wear this morning.
