Lift options

I'm sure I could put together an answer if I searched through the millions on threads, but I'm too lazy right now...

What would be the cheapest way to get at least 3 inches of total lift, also with enough strength in the front to support a plate bumper in the future? Right now I have a 2.5 inch spacer in the front with a 2.5 inch aal in the rear..

I was thinking of maybe getting this setup...

Blistein 5100's all the way around with either OME 883 coils or toytec coils.

If anybody knows where I can get the shocks cheaper or coils cheaper also let me know. Thanks!

If youre going for a plate bumper, go for the toytec coils. Without the bumper you'll get a little more than 3". I got 3.4" of lift and Jlee got 3.5- but it evens out with the bumper to 3"

That paired with 5100's up front set to 0. With the 2.5 AAL I'd go for 5150's in the back.

 

Okay, thanks! What are the differences between the versions of shocks, I've been told before but I forget...

 

the 5150's are longer/valved for lifted trucks.

5100's in the back aren't long enough for rear lifts above 2", but the 5150's are



Jlee runs 5150's in the back and gets good flex from them

Jerry, if you're watching- No, I don't happen to have a picture of your rear setup saved to my hard drive because when I have money it's similar to the rear setup I want. That'd just be crazy!

Alright, thanks! I was going to start saving for a plate bumper but then realized I might should get a beefier suspension to handle it first! Money, money, and more money!

You're probably right!

 

The OME coils will ride better without the bumper though, so it's allllllll up to you!

Ride quality isn't a problem for me. As long as I get as much clearance as I do I now or preferably more, with or without a bumper. I thought my ride quality was great after I got my spacer lift on!

 

Also might wanna do the CV boot mod, or get all-pro's LT boots.

Since the coils give more than 3" until they settle, I blew both of mine within months of getting the lift

 

What does the cv boot mod do, same for the all-pro boots?

It's basically just pulling the CV boot down the shaft, so that the CV fins don't rub against each other (the reason they tear)
-the cheap way

the All Pro LT boots are just made to handle LT suspension travel, so they'll handle the lift a lot better than the stock ones
-the expensive-er way

 

Hmm, I'd probably just pay the extra $70 for new boots... lol

 

Yeah, found those when you brought them up I keep coming up with things I want to do but instead I don't need to spend anymore until I get my inner cv seal replaced!

 

Could I go with these instead of the 5150's?

No big deal, just posted that last night. so looks like I'll be getting those instead, they're also cheaper than 5150's!
