Any wax will work as long as its quality wax. Doesn't matter the color of the truck.

Try Meguiar's NXT 2.0 wax. I think it's some pretty good stuff and it really makes water bead if you apply enough coats. What specifically are you looking for in the wax though...protection of the paint, shine, etc.? If you are looking for a really nice deep shine, then I'd recommend a carnauba type wax.

zymol makes a wax especially for red colored vehicles, and zymol is top of the line wax.... i'll add in a link with the edit.

It's expensive, but this tub will last you for the better part of a year, if not more. I use creame on my trucks/cars, and it's great- A friend of mine has a red 05 mustang GT, and this wax gives the best depth/clarity/paint preservation i've seen.

Poor Boys Natty Red is great on dark colors and will not break the bank.

I got a rad red also.

Don't get worried when you wax your front bumper and fender flares when your application pad turns red. Toyota did not clear coat them, so paint will come off when you wax those parts.

I really like the Meguires NXT wax. Its fairly easy to find most anywhere, isn't expensive, seems to give a nice shine and good protection, and seems to last a while between waxing. My only problem with it is it seems to take a little more elbow grease to remove the film left behind. Usually when i'm done I take it out into the sun and look over it carefully and wipe it down one more time with the microfiber towel. The caranuba wax is also very good. I just like the NXT a little better because it seems to stay on longer and i think it gives a richer shine.:notsure:

If you're looking to really protect your paint and get a really rich shine you should do a full detail. I usually clay bar the entire truck. This removes most, if not all, contaminants in the paint and brings it down to the clear coat. :D

I then use Meguires #21 Synthetic Sealer. This seals the paint and protects it.

Then i usually go to the #7 Show car glaze. This really brings out the color and a deep shine. That show car glaze really makes red cars pop.

Then the last thing i use is the wax. I usually do about 2 coats.

Granted I do all my stuff by hand because i dont trust myself with a rotary buffer so it takes me like 6-8 hours and a whole lotta beer to do my whole truck.

Its well worth it though. I attached some pics so you can see the final results. the black car is my civic si i had before the Taco and the red car is my gf's accord. The pics of the accord arent that good because it was cloudy out so you can't really get a good idea of how good it actually looked.

    Megs #21 and #7 is a great 1-2 punch.

Don't use "wax" at all-you are just wasting your time as wax jobs do not last. I use "Nufinish" which is some type of polymer coating. It applies like wax, but last a very long time. In fact, I only have to do it 2x a year. Yes, it does not give you the "deep" shine you can get with some car waxes, but I don't coat the paint for the shine, but for the protection. The only thing to be aware of when using nufinish is that after you wipe it off it takes about 20 min for the hard shine to show up. The application I did last April is still beading up today. I will do another in about a month to get me through the winter.
    That's my 2c on this

You put glaze on top of a sealant? you're doing it wrong...

...And for red, I would go with Dodo Juice Hard Candy. Remember, no matter how good a wax is, it will look like shit if you don't prep the surface correctly.

"Carnu B" is the brand. I've never used it myself or know anyone who has, but carnauba wax's give a better shine then sealants, but don't last as long.

So Carnu-B is great for deep shine? What about protection from the weather? What do you mean my prepping it?

It should be, if it really has carnauba in it. Protection is carnauba's down side, they only last 2-3 months. Sealant's will last up to 6+ months, but they don't give the same shine as carnauba wax's.

By prepping I mean: clay, polish, glaze (optional), then wax/sealant. Depending on how bad your paint is, you can even use a rubbing compound before polishing.

There's a lot more to it than just slapping on a coat of wax.

Im gonna clay bar my taco today. The paint is still very good. I wax it with meguirs at least once a month. So should I clay bar it then apply the carnu-b wax?

I would still do a polish to get rid of any swirl marks and faint scratches. A good polish is really what makes the wax shine!

NuFinish is a polish. If you know what you are doing, it is OK to use (only once in a while). Polish is abrasive and wears down the clear coat over time. It gets over-used all of the time by people that don't quite understand how it works. For the average person, you are best off sticking with a high quality wax. Lately I have been using Meguiars Ultimate. For the price, it is the best I have found. It is a big step up from the NXT I was previously using.
