I used the "DEI 530T Window Automation System" and I installed it on the driver door master switch. It can be used with an alarm or independently (like I have it) and it gives both driver and passenger windows the auto up and down feature from the master switch from this single unit....and there is no change with the passenger window switch operation with the install...BUT the manual says if you want the "one touch" feature on the passenger switch then you have to run two wires to the pass switch (which I wasn't worried about).

The install was very easy. Just cut four wires (two for driver up and down...and two for pass up and down) which will give you eight wire ends to splice into. Connect the eight wire ends to eight wires on the 530T unit, connect one wire from the unit to 12v constant, and ground three wires and BINGO!!!

There are a few wires left over that aren't used if you are installing the unit by itself. They connect to an alarm to crack the windows, roll down when unarmed or up when armed.

To those with double cabs....you can do this for your two front windows but if you wish to have this for the back two windows then you will need a second unit to install.

retail on a 530t is about 129.95 but you can find them for less online. cost from dei to a retailer is 84.00 so if your anywhere near that its a good price

Could you wire this up to any 2 windows? Like the front and rear drivers side windows instead of the 2 front windows?

YES! This is what my friend has in his bmw. All 4 of his windows do this from the drivers switch. I am gonna buy two of these and do this!
do you have pictures of the wiring, and what you had to cut, ground. Or does the unit come with instructions?

Unfortunately I don't have any pics of the install. I just tucked everything in the door since it is still raining for the fourth straight day here. I do plan to take the door panel off to (which you really don't have to) to give it more of a professional install look even though you can't see it...but I know it's there. I will take pics and do a write up if others would like.

So this whole idea was spawned by a question in another thread about doing this for 1st gens. Do you have any idea if it is the same parts/procedure, or is this 2nd gen specific? Did the unit come with instructions for more than just 2nd gen?

I've actually been wanting to do this for a while. Then a friend ordered this for his alarm but was the wrong part for what he needed so he ga e it to me...then I saw the 1st gen thread. It's universal for any vehicle with power windows. And yes it does come with generic wiring instructions. All you have to do is find four wires (two door) or eight wires (four door) and figure out which wire makes the window go up and which wire makes it go down (for each windoow)
