Good entry level touch screen?

Noob to audio electronics. Wondering what a good inexpensive entry level double din touch screen would be. I did some research on Crutchfield and there are so many.

 

Not sure if this is entry level but someone posted it and it looks good.

That does look good...but if 700 bucks is entry level I'm in trouble.

 

i would say that 600 is about average for a decent touch screen, anything below that you start to get into the sketchy brands. but do your research some of the cheaper stereos are just re-branded.

 

you can find kenwoods and pioneers for around 350 to 400. they may not have all the bells and whistles but some dont care for those.

That's the one I wanna go w it does what I want out of a stereo. No need for extra bells n whistles when I wont use em. Had a friend in college who had one n he liked it a lot.

 

If you want to pay 319 for a stereo thats almost 2 years old thats one thing. But, if you just dont know of the other ones around.. then let me help.. You dont need to spend 700 even 600+ on a stereo.. those are for the all inclusive type that have navi and such. which you can get for about 100 bucks.. Check this out..

its a level up from the one you were thinking about getting.. But most importantly about car audio, is not what is the "best", its about what you like and what will work in your application. Good luck.

 

Definately check sonicelectronix or Amazon against anyone elses prices before you buy. I got my double din from sonic and it was about half what bestbuy was asking.

 

x2 on sonicelectronix. Best place to buy car audio IMO. Great prices and good customer service, too. They also ship a wiring harness and other installation accessories for free. I am buying that same stereo in a month or two. Looks like it does everything that I need it to do and is a good price, too. Pioneer is highly underrated in car audio. Every head unit I have owned or friends have owned by them have been awesome. Only other I would consider would be alpine, but those are a lot of money for a double din.

I’m glad I found this thread as I’ve been wondering the same thing. I think I am going to go with the avh-p3300bt. It has built in Bluetooth unlike the 2300 or the 4300. The 3300 does has the smaller screen than then 4300 though. Anybody regret not getting the bigger screen?

 

Well good point in the right direction...how pd is the 4300? And Also does it fit in our trucks? I saw it n I actually liked that it had a bigger screen. Just wasn't willing to pay a 100 more on Crutchfield.

 

Which thread are you referring to in regards to someone posting it? That unit looks awesome. I wonder if it is a good unit that works well.

I have the AVH P3200BT. I love it.The built in Bluetooth is far better than the add on kits. I have had it now for about six months and have not used a dvd yet so I don't miss the bigger screen at all. I have a big HD tv at home.

 

It was between the 3300 and 4300 for me, and I personally hate the looks of the USB cord coming out the front of the stereo like the 3300 has. It looks too messy for me. I'm planning on running the ipod cable from the back of the head unit into the glove box or into the back of the ash tray so I can just set my phone in there while its plugged in.

The extra screen size is a plus I suppose, but I don't think I'll be watching enough movies to worry about that.

 

I have the 3300bt model in my truck. You have to install a microphone and run the wire to the back of the headunit, but that was really easy. I mounted mine at the top of the a pillar. Didn't even drill anything. The sound quality is excellent for both sides. DVD playback is cool, but I really don't use it.

I bought a double din installation kit from *********. Turns out that it's just a standard cheapass Metra kit that I paid almost twice as much for and had to wait a week and a half. Don't make that mistake.

Oh, this unit has an input for a backup camera also.

I got mine on eBay for $250.

Oh, good to know. Sonicelectronix only says it has a front USB input. That might change my choice

 

Well, you made me look it up and now I'm confused. It looks lie that vendor page is correct. There is indeed not a USB port on the rear.

I am nearly certain that I saw one on my radio when I installed it though.
