    BACKPACKING FIRST AID TIP:
I just had my first bout of Poison ivy or sumac. Its irrelevent on which one I have, becasue they all have the same rash. But anyway, I wanted to share with y'all a few home treatments that have been passed down to me. Number one is take get the rash wet with warm water and dump salt on it and rub it real ruff. The salt acts as a rubbing compound that rips open all the small blisters, and draws out the oil from your skin. after you have done this, pat dry with a towel, and put acetone on it. with may burn some, but burning is good. after that your could also put gold bond on it to dry it out further. I tryed this and it felt amazing. while your washing it, the salt scratches it for you so you get some relief

For future encounters, there is some poison ivy soap called Tecnu that works really well to get the oils off your skin hopefully before you've had a reaction.

My gf has bad reactions to poison ivy and has had to get shots because it got on her face and eyes. Her boss is the same way and recommended the Tecnu.

Hope you make it through alright. Just be glad it wasn't stinging nettle that you got into:eek:

BTW, if you brew a cup or two of Calamine Tea, double strength. When it's cool, you can put it on a wash cloth over your eye to help relieve the itching. It really works.

well now I have to look....

OK, not too bad. Looks uncomfortable though. A friend of mine got into some sumac once, his legs were completely covered in sores. He had to change his bed sheets daily and shower like 2 or 3 times a day and change clothes as well until everything healed up.

looks nice...find out how much maps are gonna cost you for that thing. It also seems batt life may be lower due to a color screen but i may be wrong

the oregon, colorado, etc have a receiver in them that is known to be inaccurate. if you are looking for pinpoint accuracy avoid these particular models. also, if you are looking for a gps mainly for vehicle navigation this is not what you want. you typically have to be zoomed in on the screen to such a level that it makes navigating on roads near impossible. i have a garmin 60csx and while its dead accurate when i'm hiking and driving its pretty useless to me driving because i can only view 0.3 miles on the screen or the roads aren't visible on the maps.
