I Needed bigger chainsaw to cleanup my place after Irene and figure out I will have something big when hitting the trails (we often get stopped by downed trees) So I bought new chainsaw and POS won't even start. My old Husqvarna starts with first pull it looks like with car companies quality is slipping.

So you adjusted the carburetor and it still won't start? They don't usually come perfectly tuned...

I just bought the 16in for the same reason Ireane. It does suck to get started and all the reviews on it say the same thing. My FD bought one in a pinch also and have the same problems with it. But once its started its a good saw.

Our husky has been the best little saw ever. You just have to know how to start it and it fires up first try every time. Its about 4 years old now.

Im going to have to agree with OZ here...

I'm a stihl guy all the way , and i grew up with my stepfater being a small engine mechanic, from about 13-16 i mad most of my monwy fixing saws and mowers in our garage, almost every Husqvarna i've worked on has been a pretty damn good saw, if you bought it new from a reputable shop, i'd bet they would adjust your carb for little or nothing.. and what are the symptoms, take the plug out and touch it to the block and test for spark, than go from there.

Agreed. Just need to get used to the starting process of the new saw. I've got a 359 pro saw with 24" bar and its tricky to start for everyone but me since im used to it.
try pushing the decompression, pulling out the blue choke lever, then pull it til it fires of. As soon as the engine fires at all, push the decompression back in again, and push the blue choke lever back in(puts it at 1/2 choke) and pull a couple more times and it should fire right up. Pulling the throttle trigger at this point will pop off the choke.

New to me but certinly not new
Husky makes a damn fine saw. But if you bought it at a box store there's your problem. I own 4 and love them. I have 2 372's said day when the stopped making them a 346 great little saw and a 385 never really use it.

Have another Husq and this one starts on first pull, new saw does not even make attempt to start. You can pull as much as you want but it want even try to start. All it does it fills engine with fuel. Removed spark plug drained engine and still no start. Did not have chance to even use it once so tomorrow is going back to the store.

Thats what I am doing and no start. It does not even try to start. its liek there is no spark. From forums I see they have problem with carburetors that flood engine. I bought saturday so I am getting my money back one way or another. One call to the bank and payment gets stopped then they can figure out whats wrong with saw

I also have 142 and that saw had seen some serious cutting. Thats why I went with another Husq. My old 142 starts with one pull.

Strange. The 372xp is a good saw. However, yes some huskies have carb issues. My saw is on its 3rd caeb. 1st one was when it was almost new, so that may be your issue. Just a faulty carb from the factory. Dealer should take care of you.

actually when you push the choke back in its half throttle no choke until you pull the trigger then it releases a little lever that allows the butterfly to close all the way.

i have a 359 pro as well GREAT SAW!!!

Huskys are like the top of the totem pole as far as commercial, actually there not that hard to manage and take care of, you just got to read the manual good, i got the small 18" bar but it is a beast, make sure to sharpen every other use for optimal butter slicing! If all fails with trying to start it, take it to a repair shop cause it "could" be a problem that is unique and needs professional attention
