Aftermarket locking tailgate?

    An ARE camper shell, a 1000w power inverter.
    Tundra has them, why not Tacoma.

    at work one of the customers wanted locking tailgates on the hiluxs were building them and we got oem key locks and made locking mechs for them. isnt very hard to do. a few rods, lock barrel and a locksmith to key the barrel to match..

    I picked up the Pop N Lock a few months ago, and contrary to some of the post on TW, I haven't had any issues with it (yet). From what I have experienced from it so far, I think it's a good investment; if you can find one, as they ran into a manufacturing shortage for a short time.

    I have the electric pop n lock on mine, been on for over two years now with no issues.

    The pl5300, which was for use with the backup camera, had major quality issues initially, and that is what folks are referencing.

    I have heard that folks have gotten replacements and were happy, but I can't speak from 1st hand experience.

    3" lift using Fox Shocks Coilover, Total Chaos UCA's. Running: Duratrac 285/70/17 Rear suspension just a 1" block for now. Will have custom rear springs no block. Fox w/ Resi.


    I have the electric dynolock. No issues been almost 2 years.

    I just ordered one of these. I wanted a manual lock and the visual deterrent of a key cylinder. I hope it works out. Eventually I would like to put power locks on both the tailgate and the camper top, but for now I'm fine with keys.
