its pretty crazy out there...always be prepared...i carry when i go to IHOP

 

if you have a permit.....carry, in all places, at all times, unless it is illegal

(yes, this includes church and going out to eat, i will when i hit 21, we have family friends who do)

I live in Commifornia. If I was at iHop and someone decided to shoot, I'd probably have to throw my "create-a-face pancake" at him.

 

that all the people out there packing somehow keep these incidents from happening. Nevada most likely has a large number of people carrying weapons at any given time. The reality is that if someone wants to take out a large number of people, there isn't much that is going to stop them.

That being said, there is no statistical evidence that gun control laws prevent crime, either.

All told, you are still more likely to die in a car accident driving to/from the IHOP or from the heart disease brought on by eating excessive calories and fat off its menu than you are from getting shot up inside one.

Prayers for those hurt/killed in Carson City, Nevada today. Just heard some National Guardsmen were killed. Damn!

I carry everywhere, everyday. I take no chances especially in restaurants. I'm a former LEO and my wife and kids know to always let me sit facing the door in a restaurant or in any situation. My wife also carries (CHL in Texas) and is an expert shot. She carries either her S&W snubby or her customized Ruger LCR. We both also carry knives with us at all times. Just got my new Spyderco Massad Ayoob today as a matter of fact.

My carry guns are:

- S&W Bodyguard 380 while in shorts
- Glock 26, ported w/Clipdraw and extended controls while in clothes with no jacket
- Springfield .45 Ultra Compact V-10 (ported) in winter clothes (jacket), carried in FBI forward-cant OWB holster.

I have many others but those are my preferred carry weapons. I only load with Hornady Critical Defense.

 

Don't know about laws here in Texas! Can one carry if licensed?? Just want to know!

 

In texas you can get a concealed license and carry, in certain places.

 

^ If you are unlicensed (no Concealed Hangun License--CHL), you may keep a loaded gun in your home and in your vehicle (out of site). You may not carry at any time except on own property.

With a CHL, you may qualify for a revolver or a semi-auto which also qualifies you to carry a revolver. When you qualify on a revolver only, you cannot carry at semi-auto-pistol. You may carry as many weapons as you desire on your person as long as they cannot be seen. This means they should not be imprinted below your clothing as well. You can carry at all times except on school properties, federal buildings, and most state/city buildings. There are a couple more places that you can not carry but check state law to be sure. Also, any establishment that displays the legal sign preventing carry (very few establishments may post or qualify for this exception).

Getting a CHL is fairly easy provided you don't have a record or a dead-beat dad (behind on child support). You take a class, get your fingerprints done, etc. About $100 on average. Filing all the paperwork can be a pain but as long as you are thorough and send it in complete, you can get your license in about 2-4wks. Military personnel pay nothing for the license in Texas. All others pay ~$125-150. I did't have to pay nor did my wife so I can't quite remember the fees.

I carry pretty much all of the time. I prefer to carry and know that I am prepared to protect myself and others as opposed to believing that nothing bad will happen only because it rarely does. It is simply a different mindset. I never want to be in a deadly situation where I am helpless to affect its outcome; if the bad guy didn't get me, I think the guilt probably would.
I believe that it is my right to defend myself against threats to my life, and the most effective tool for that job is a firearm in the hands of a properly trained individual who has the right mindset. Police generally respond to events, they will not always be there to stop them from taking place. Because of that, it becomes a personal responsibility and a personal choice for me to carry a weapon.

 

In Pennsylvania if you are legally allowed to own a handgun, you can legally Open Carry anywhere not specifically prohibited by law or where posted on private property. Places like school zones fall intot he prohibited areas.

To carry concealed (including even open carrying in a car or riding a motorcycle or bike) you must have a License to Carry a Firearm (LTCF).
