I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma Sport SR5 w/ TRD package. It has the (yellow) 5100 Bilstein struts on the front but the lift shop is saying that the coil on the strut is over extended and I need the OEM coils. If anyone is interested in selling this to me Please let me know!!

    Thanks

so do you only need the coil or both the coil and the strut assembly?

    Ok,

I got a 6" fabtech lift kit on the truck. It had a 3/4" leveling spacer ontop of the front coils. After they took that spacer off the truck is still sitting about 1" higher in the front than in the back and the CV axles are wearing out. The lift shop is telling me that someone left the stock struts on the front of the truck and stuck an aftermarket coil ontop of it to level out the front of the truck.

They are saying that I need the factory coils to bring the front of the truck back down so the CV axles do not continue to wear.

And I can take a pic of my struts.

They are Bilstein 5100's and they are yellow as yellow can be. With blue writing on them and they say Bilstein Toyota 5100

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I'd like to see the pics. That lift should have come with a big spacer that went on top of the stock assembly.

Ok, to clarify and i will post pics tonight.

I went to the dealership and took a pic under a 2010 same truck as mine and it has the yellow 5100. I see what everyone is saying.

But besides that issue. The lift shop did put a block ontop of the strut assembly, but my truck sits 1" higher in the front end. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what I can put on the front end to bring it down to level out the truck and to get the angle out of my poor cv axles?

Can those billy 5100's that are zinc go under the front end? I am new to lifting but have learned ALOT.

    Thanks.

To clarify again, the yellow bilstein shocks are NOT called 5100's. They are called HD's.

The thing on top of your shock (not strut) is called a top-plate spacer (not a block). If the truck sits higher in the front end, remove the top plate spacer and boom, there you go.

One more thing sorry to double post.

But the lift shop ALSO said that (and i know ive said it before) that not only did my truck have a leveling plate on the front end, it has a over extended coil ontop of the factory strut to bring the truck up even more. Also it has a AAL kit on the back so basically it had a 2" lift. I wanted it all off and just the basic 6" fabtech. Well the back of the truck did fine, the front....well took the plate off and truck came down some, but now they say coil needs to be changed back to factory or just need a new strut assembly. whichever is easiest

BUT if anyone has any suggestions about something I can put under the front end to use i am open for suggestions. I have looked into dirtlogic coilovers but with hunting season in 1 month $$$ is going somewhere else. :)

If you have factory struts on their now and the coil is too tall, switching to the silver 5100's won't help. It sounds like you've got a lift coil on there right now and want to go back to stock height? If that's so, 2 people above offered you stock coils... I've got a set of stock coils and struts (assembled) off a 2007 but I'd have to ship them if you want them.

    PICTURE.

HERE is the picture BEFORE they took off the 3/4 leveling spacer. now that the spacer is gone the angle of the CV axles are half as bad.

Can you post a pic of the top of the coil? From the bottom, that looks like a stock TRD suspension. You might not need any new parts if we can figure out what was done to your truck.
