As long as it was done correctly, the integrity of the frame shouldnt be an issue.

Definitely a frankenstein project. I am thinking the dropped the longer bed on after extending the frame. Double cabs didn't come out till 01-04. The would have had to extend the drive train also.

I think the bed looks slightly off because they are backed lightly onto the cement.

I wanna say that I have seen some DBL long beds here. I'll check.

Extending the drivetrain is nothing more than just getting a longer drive shaft. Then, Lengthening the electrical wireing, and brake lines. Generally, when a frame is lengthened, they cut it between a crossmember, and reinforce it with plating.

The reason I never bought a double cab was because of the short bed lentgh. I like a big bed..............:D. I like the look of that taco, just needs cleaned up a bit and some new sneakers.

Too bad there is no undercarraige pics. That would be the proof of the pudding.

Yeah, guess I shoulda snapped a few undercarriage pics. It was right in front of a business that was all windows in the front though so it probably would have looked a bit funny seeing some guy on the ground and under their truck. They probably woulda thought I was trying to steal their Cat' or something.

I just pulled over to mess with my ipod adapter and went "wait, that's not a regular DC SB!" and grabbed my camera real quick. Maybe it'll be there the next time I drive through that town..... I'll get more pics if it is.
Here's one more slightly different shot

I agree - there's no way that's a stock 'production' frame. The wheelbase has obviously been lengthened.

2001 - 2004 XtraCabs and Double Cabs had the same wheelbase, so this isn't some result of a Double Cab cab swap.

If Toyota ever built any one-off long bed Double Cab prototypes prior to the 2001 DC model introduction, I've never heard of it.
