Ive wanted a tat for quite a while, now that i have a little extra change in my pocket that im not spending on the yota i decided to finally go ahead with the idea. I've been wanting a firefighter maltese cross, but my favorite thing to do is vehicle extrication and i do like sculls/ tribal tatoos.

anyone here have a cool tat they can post for ideas or just good with a picture editing software? i found a few designs i do like but i still wanna think about them more. also anyone have any recomendations of black and white opposed to colored tattoos?

also im trying to think of a good place for one, i want it on my upper body, but i am not sure as to whether i want it on my back or arm/shoulder, but i do not want it on my side incase i get a larger middle section when im older lol

sorry lotsa thinking, but post up your ideas/tats!

If you need ideas for a tattoo, you don't need a fucking tattoo.

Keep thinking, and delete this thread.

    x2 you'll get something you'll regret.

But if your dead set on it, go to local tattoo artists and have them draw something until you like it.

I specifically remember when I got mine the artist discussing with me how stupid people were that came in and asked for art or selected art off their walls. His position was if you don't know what you want, you're an idiot for having it permanently scribed on your skin.

Good thing I designed and brought in my own art.

Then go to an artist and work with them until they produce what you want, then take that to your tattoo artist.

And for the love of God, don't get a skull, or a "tribal" design, or a dragon, or barbed wire, or any of that other faggy lameness.

A few guys I know went to "artistically gifted" people and had each of them draw sketches until they found what they wanted. Took one of them 4 months and 35 sketches until he found the right one.

just dont jump into it :D

I can't draw for shit. I had a artist draw something up for me... I really liked it. But didn't love it. Thats why im still tattoo free. I agree someone I know has lots of wall art on him and it looks pathetic.... like stickers all over him .

Then go to a tattoo artist and get the shit drawn up, if you absolutely love it and have to have it forever get it.

looking at your sig...do you actually have a career in the fire service... u thinking about it? dont know how it is in your area. but out here on the west coast any tattoo that will is visible when wearing your uniform is for the most frowned upon. your serving older generations. older generations dont really appreciate or like tattoos. some departments wont even give you a chance. just trying to help a brother out.

    Good choice.

Wall art or other people's designs just reeks of "I had to get something to make mom and dad angry, so I got this."

what ever you decide to get , print it out, post it next to your bed, or in your truck, somewhere you'll have to look at it every day. After 6 months or a year if you still decide you like it go ahead and get it.. although i would advise against getting a tribal , and if its a skull, pay the price and get someone to draw you a one-off

To be sure of a design, have an artist draw a temp of what you want in the spot you want with a surgical marker and wear it for a week. By the end of that week you'll know weather you want it permanent.

If you get one, go with black ink only. Colors will fade fast and have to be redone frequently. Black ink will fade also, but takes a long time.

im almost dead set on getting it on my right, back shoulder where it would be hidden, this isnt something id be getting until months down the road, ive wanted one for about 6 months and now that i have the money to afford one i want to procede to the next stage and start planning a design and location, like i said this isnt going to be something i go out in a week or so and get.

the cross in that picture is what i want, but i was thinking instead of the tribal like it had having an open set of cutters and spreaders on the outside of it
