Toyota Canada told me that "TSBs" are not "warranty" issues.

They won't do mine but I'm in a different situation. I have a US import in Canada and Canada doesn't have this TSB

It is a warranty issue in the context that they won't do the TSB for free outside of the warranty period

I did this fix last weekend and used this gasket from home depot with gorilla glue as suggested. So far so good. Took a little longer than anticipated. Mostly time lost to removing the old pads/adhesive off of the leaf springs with a razor blade. Also on my 09 the pads on the middle leaf were held in with a little plug type thing that I didn't notice at first. Sort of have to pry those up and out.

I have the (pre-harsh ride TSB) springs so I had to make 8 pads total. This gasket has enough for that and plenty to spare if you have additional leafs.

P.S., I love the squeak. Its fair warning for pedestrians.

I finally installed the stripping I bought a while back. The gorilla glue is a total mess and my hands are filthy. Grease comes off but if the grease gets on your hands and then you get Gorilla Glue on them.....black hands forever!

But really, I think this material is a great option for the leaf pack. It's the PERFECT width and it's shaped like a steel I beam. Essentially, there's little overhangs on each edge that look like they'll help keep dirt and shit out from between the leafs.

Used Water Displacement 40 try. Squeak is gone but for how long? Why is Toyota continuing to make trucks with this minor problem? Must be a design issue?

My wife's 2005 Taco was serviced every which way for this problem...including a new leaf pack. I'll be taking her 2011 in for a "squeak fix" sometime in the next couple of weeks. It's Toyota's problem, let them fix it...as many times as it takes. I need to trade my Ram soon. I'll not trade for another Tacoma largely because of this annoying feature. This and the sort of "crappy" Sport wheels. But she does love her Toyotas. It's her fourth 4X4 truck. Go, Granny, go!:D

Multiple trips to the dealer without fixing the problem , or 15 minutes fixing it yourself .

Got the leveling kit, TRD air and exhaust, debadged, 265 75 16 GY Wranglers, grille guard, nerf bars, American Racing wheels, ongoing
So, my dealer installed the new 4 leaf pack in my truck. A huge difference in handling is the first thing I've noticed. It's great. Thanks for the info gents.

just did this. once i had all my tools in place, took me about 10 min(no hurry) to do both sides.

i didn't cut my pieces lengthwise, only across leaving them tubular. double the thickness.

didn't glue either but if i lose one or both, i'll do it proper next time. still got plenty of tube.

    squeak is gone!!

    thanks bbb!!!

I recomended this fix to my cousin for his 08 Rugged Trail. He did it today, and he said it worked like a charm. He's been looking for a resonable fix for a long time.

I have a 05 Tacoma 4 x 4 TRD Sport and have been annoyed by the squeak forsome time. No reason to waste your time in the DIY department. Toyota just came out with an upgraded 4 pack of rubber pads which I assume go some where between the leaf springs. These just came out last month so I'm told, and were only $40 at the dealer.

The previous fix from the dealer were a 4 pack of PLASTIC inserts 1/3 the thickness. He showed me both. The new RUBBER pads are a good 1/4" thick. MUCH BETTER QUALITY!

I can see the old version plastic inserts cracking over time, especially in colder temperature driving only to have to do the job over again.

My friend is putting them in next week. I'm quite sure this will relieve theproblem and will repost if it doesn't.

Toyota Part name: Spacer Kit, Service.

    Toy Part #: 04001-28104.

Hope this helps many because if you didn't recently inquire you wouldn't know these just became available about a month or so ago, so I'm told fromToyota Parts Dept. Get rid of that annoying noise!

I do a lot of DIY unconventional things in home and don't like the idea of putting thin rubber bicycle tubes slices or whatever I just read on the site. Again that individual didn't have the option of getting these because they were not available when he did his DIY fix for parts cost of less than $10 and a lot of time. Don't see that version holding up over an extended period of time. Good luck!

Note: If you're vehicle is less than 3 years old from inception/purchasedate or 36,000 miles whichever comes first you have to complain to get the problem fixed and they will do it for free. So don't wait if you're having the issue.
"Just read an individual’s comment on same problem with 2011 Tacoma. Can't believe they didn't fix the problem they have known about already for 7 years. Don't forget these were out mid year 0f 2004 and there are many people that put 40-50K on these veh's in a single year. Toyota knows how to play the game and keep you coming in for service. LOL

Glad to hear. "I'm confident this will fix my same problem as well, or I wouldn't have took the the time to write a detailed post for the squeaky leaf spring fix." I don't have the time to write in these posts but make them because I appreciate reading others comments. My mechanic friend is putting mine in next week. Take care.

I almost guarantee (99.9999%) this is your problem. My O5 similar Tacoma didn't start having the noise till about 40-45Kmiles. Even if this is not the problem which "I highly doubt" you'll want to read my detailed post anyway and fix the problem which will come eventually anyway.
My sceen name is garys05tacoma4x4. Let me know if yuo find the post okay.
Listed: Under squeaky leaf springs. Good luck.
Note: $40 for dealer parts but make sure you buy the type I listed.

My 2011 started squeaking at 5k miles. I'm getting the TSB this week on the springs. I didn't read this thread thoroughly, so forgive me if this question is redundant -- has anyone had the squeak issue after getting the TSB done?
