Where to get 5.29 gears for 2010 4x4

    Folks,

    have searched and found places that have 4.56 and 4.88, but am thinking of getting 5.29 gears for 2010 Reg cab 4x4 2.7 5 speed. I know it will hurt gas mileage but truck is used mainly for work commute in city and towing RV on freeway. Checked online at East Coast and Randys but front not listed, I can call but though might ask TW collective.

    Unless your running at least a 35" tire, that is too low of gears.

    yeah you need a 35 with those gears...

    Just running 265/75/16 Tires. Know this will be low gear, but for mostly city driving makes little difference, and would be nice to have the power to tow on freeway. Toyota engines are made for high rpm operation and since I only tow few times year should not cause problems, but then again I regard the truck as an expensive toy

    dude those tires are 31.6 inches tall. do not go with 5.29s. DO NOT.

    not even 4.88s.

    4.56 is the biggest i would go with that. you will be red lining at 70mph with that gear ratio

    think of it this way with 4.88 the gear ratio in 5th is the same as stock 4.1 in 4th

    so if you go to 4.88s itd be like your a gear lower

    at 75 mph you will be at 4219rpms in 5th gear with a manual.

    265/75 16 has a 100in circumference. the is 63,360 inches in a mile. the tire would have to turn 634 times to travel 1 mile. with 5th gear is a .81:1 ratio with 5.29:1 rear ratio it would be 4.3:1 as a final ratio.

    634 times 4.3 = 2700

    it would take 2,700 revolutions of the engine to make one mile. so... 2700rpm=60milesper hour since 2700 revs per minute and if it takes 1 minute to go one mile you get 2700rpm=60mph

    60mph-75mph=20% change
    2700+20%= about 3250rpm at 75

    3250 cant be right when im close to that with stock gears and 31s..

    well first gens might have a different rear ratio and different 5th gear ratio...

    i used the info for the 2010 4cyl drivetrain

    smaller tires give you higher revs and you may have 4.56 gears stock since that was an option on first gen 4 bangers.
