Who does the work on your truck?

Whats up guys, I just have a pretty basic question to ask you, who does the work on your truck? Dealerships or small locally owned shops, maybe even all by yourself?

 

My truck is only worked on by me, I used to be a VW tech. And have also worked in a fabrication shop.

 

This question has been asked many times on here.

To summarize, most people on here seem to do at least some of their own work, and many do all of their own work. This is an enthusiast website after all.

As for me, I use the local independent Toyota specialist. I am capable of doing most of my own work, and I have in the past. I'm just tired of it and I have a mechanic I can trust, so I let him handle it.

 

All maintenance is included for the first two years at the dealership. Of course I watch them like a hawk.

 

I do everything my self, except alignments and tires.

I wish I could do more on my own, but I'm a busy high school student with few tools and limited knowledge so most of it gets done at a local Offroad/fab shop. I still do the little maintainance items that i can tackle. I hope to learn more and more so I can save that extra cash and get some quality time under the truck.

Same here, do much as possible to my truck, to save money, and to make sure it done right. I have a 1st generation, so almost everything on the truck is pretty basic and not to hard to figure out. Had the dealer do the timing belt and water pump, though!

 

Dealership.. Oil Changes, just replaced lenses, All Toyota mandated maintenance.

Pays off when one sells and when the dealer sees service done there, they take care of you better in my experience when it comes to questionable warranty issues..

I'm not sure what you mean by this?

Right now, the dealership takes care of everything for another 18 months. Meanwhile, I'll be searching for a reputable alternative.

 

Depends what needs to be done to the truck. I try to do all the maintenance myself so I can save a few dollars.

Any thing I can do myself I do I haven't had any problems with my truck since I got it, oil change, breaks, spark plugs,is all I needed to do.
Alignment and balance I can't do for that I've taken it to the dealer.

I am the only person certified to work on my truck

 

i do everything that doesn't include dropping tranny/pulling engine, no tranny jack or engine hoist. but i do everything else. well, tire mounting and alignment i guess either haha
