Thought I'd post a picture of my dog, Charlie. We adopted him from the Humane Society when he was about 6 months old, he's now 4! Probably one of the smartest dogs I've ever had, very loyal and its almost like he knows we rescued him because he never tries to run away when the garage door left open. Charlie follows me and my fiance everywhere we go. We adopted from a Humane Society in Hawaii while we were going to college there. We now live in New Jersey and brought him all the way back here with us. Charlie loves the winter and the cold weather as he's an outside dog. We have a dogging door on our garage so he can come and go in and out of the garage as he pleases. I wish we could bring him inside but he sheds like crazy, you could brush him for an hour and hair would still come off. Charlies a mixed breed and I'm not sure what mixes but I would guess maybe Lab, Retriever, ???? Charlie loves the water and swims like a fish even during the winter when we take him to the beach he'll jump into the ocean. Sorry my post is so long but I think I could go on forever talking about Charlie. I have about 1,000 pictures of him but these are the only two I have on my computer right now, hope everyone like them!

man i really hated having to explain the symptoms to him and why they were bad and what they meant. It was so sad he was still tryin to hold out hope that tom might get better and i had to be the bearer of bad news and tell him that tommy has been declining way too fast the past 4 weeks, it made him feel a little more at easy, but i just feel so bad for him that he had to do it alone...i couldnt be there for him :( only on the phone.

Don't get down on yourself NicNac...you were there for him but the final decision and crossing that bridge was best left to him. There is a point that you can only go so far...the rest is personal. And yes I do believe God put Dog here on earth for us...maybe it's time or best that he get in touch with himself and his creator to get thru this extremely tough time. I'm not a religious guy but some paths the creator lets us go down is what's best for us. Even the path you are on now. All you can do is be there for him when he wants to talk...Are you okay?

He is in touch with God :) its already helped him a lot being that he is. It makes him sad though that the Bible says they dont have souls:( the only thing I could tell him was even if they dont go to heaven he is still better off because he is no longer suffering or in pain and tommy knows he was loved, he passed in his arms and the vets didnt warn him about the nerves are still slightly active after they pass, so when he did toms diaphram moved and his lip curled, so he thought he might have still been alive. Poor thing i felt so bad. I just wanted to give him a hug, but i couldnt, i talked to him on the phone for about 3 hours, one of the sadest conversations ive ever had. Im ok, i only met tommy once, but he was very much like sampson so i know his pain in what kind of friend he lost. But im deffinitly here whenever he needs to talk.

Sorry but I don't believe everything I read and that includes the bible. It was written by man for guidance. Tell him to believe what he feels in his heart...that will be the truth and the way...and for you---be there for him and listen...its' all you can do. Even if you were there.

well thats fine, thats your personal belief, but you cant just make up what you want to be true and right or wrong and then expect it to be. im a self educator i was raised somewhat chrisitan/neutral, no beliefs were really pushed on me, so i took it upon myself to start reading the Bible and researching the good and bad about all of it, its crazy theres a lot of truth to it, a lot of people missunderand it. I saw a quote earlier on here that said something along the lines of "if there was a God why is he letting so much bad happen in the world" and if they were educated on the subject instead of being oblivious to it they would have the answer. I had the same view with that quote until i started reading and researching, but thats way too much to go into to explain it here, and this isnt a religon forum, i already went on too much. But thats not the way to look at it and im not going to tell him that, that logic is part of the reason things arent good, i need to stop now. sorry.

Here is my boy Berkley at 9 weeks. He has a great personality and is surprisingly very calm. He already knows his name, knows how to sit, and to lay down.
