    Hi Steven, school is OK so far. I had to spend a lot of time in the computer lab getting homework done. I've got 4 courses this year, Electric Circuits, Material Science, Occupational Safety and Health, and Computer Apps. Homework hasn't really been to bad yet.

    Taking 6 classes but theyre 5 out of 6 are business which makes them intellectually easy but seem to be taking up alot of time the other is a german culture class that is entry level but it too involves quite a bit of time with lots of reading and worksheets.

    Hoping that i can figure out a way to get everything done quicker and easier at this point

    Empathy maybe... But realize that it is not your fault and you had no hand or real connection with this person.

    Maybe I am a douche too, because in a situation like this I really don't feel bad for them either. Sure, they lost a family member, but they knew this was going on. They COULD have done something about it. Maybe I'm just cynical...

    Not true, a person who truely does not want to help themselves cannot be helped, its that simple. I've seen families give everything to help their loved ones out in those kinda situations with no success. Remember, I am from a place filled with drugs.

    You didn't have a connection with the person who died, but your gf did. You need to support her in her time of grief.

    I always thought the same way about the family... It's not that simple.

    A good friend of my sister, who I talk to a couple of times a year, well his son died right before Christmas two years ago... Joe had tried so many times to help Adam get clean and stay clean... it didn't work. Adam was hooked and tried staying clean, but something always dragged him back. The pain in Joe's voice when I talked with him... he wondered if there was something (else) he could have done. Some families do try and help the person, but they aren't ready for help and there's nothing you can do. Until this happened, I never looked at the other side :eek:
