i noticed the other day that after i have been driving my truck for a while and i come to a stop light or something it idles really low like below 500, its almost like i need to stay on the gas a little just to keep it running. i was going to take it to a shop but i hate doing that when i may be able to fix it myself. does anyone know the problem? or have any suggestions?

My son had the same kind of problem with his '98 Civic. Rough at idle. Took it in & it was the IAC (Idle air control) Soleniod. There are all sorts of computer modules that control air flow. If your throwing a code, that will be the easiest way to find out what it could be.

It also could be a loose vacuum line, or a clogged fuel filter. Good luck.:D
