Thanks for the info. Now to see how long it takes to be able to order those mirrors and see how involved it is to wire them up in my 2010.:D

OK so we know that the 2012 Tacoma is not the 3 gen but the 2.5, new front metal, dash to set up entour, I like the new colours especially Spruce Mica but no upgraded drive train eg. 4.0 dual VVi engine or 6spd auto. The '12 looks good but all taco's look good to me, I would probably buy if I had too but my '99 is still in good shape. I have looked at the compeition Nissan Frontier, GMC Canyon, Dodge Dakota, I should stop kidding myself I'm looking to wait until the real redesign, about this time of year 2013, 2014 model, who out there is thinking the same?

It seems like the more lil crap they add the higher the price goes. Toyota is milking it! Reminds me of how apple puts there products out there.

I don't even know about a 2.5 as the 2012 just seems like a minor refresh to me. They did the same thing along the way on the first generation Tacomas. I would wait for the 2014 model as there will be powertrain changes and more.

I agree Toyota is milking it at this point just putting a little lipstick on the pig to hook a few more sales until the third generation.

That can't be the price for a true Base model - that's getting up towards the Double Cab 4x4 TRD Sport MSRP. Although, MSRP's are really not a big deal these days, with all of the info on the Internet about invoice prices, etc...

I'd milk it, too! They are still selling better than any other midsize pickup.

Who knows when they will actually re-engineer the powertrain, though. Maybe we should start a thread on it...:p

From a dealer... It sounds like you are correct.

I don't think I can buy from someone who appears to be in an ALLCAPSRAGE all the time.

I was under the impression the vinyl was a carpet-replacement option.

If not, then I am not as impressed by it.

For 2012-Does anyone have any idea of which models/packages come with the 5' versus 6' bed?

The bed lengths have remained the same since the Tacoma's were released in 2005.

Longbed: Regular (standard), Access Cab (standard), Double Cab (optional)
    Shortbed: Double Cab Only (standard)

Thanks-On the Double Cabs (w/TRD Sport)-Will they be listed specifically as an option (a la tube steps, carpet mats, etc), or is it coded in somewhere else? I'm looking at several and wondering if it's obvious or not. In other words-If I don't see it specifically listed as a 6' bed, it's probable a 5 footer, yes?

It should be an accesory just like on any of the current toyota models listed on toyota.com. The problem is Toyota hasn't announced the available accesories for the truck yet. They told me that they would update the website soon a few days ago but I'm still waiting.

I figured it out. It's not listed as an option, but as a model #. Model 7188 is the Double Cab 4x2 with 5ft bed. Model 7190 is the 6 footer. $500 more on base MSRP.

Always remember that Toyota is big on cost containment (i.e. they are cheap-asses). Why reinvent the wheel when they can just reuse the 4Runner Limited wheels?
