And on the acronym alphabet, one of the corniest things I have seen was when I was going through the instructor course. Every time one of those goobers came up to give us a class, they would always write out on the board all the goofy shit after their name i.e. AW1 John Holmes (SW/AW/Eagle Scout). Such chuggers, pretty sure one of them even listed his NEC's. Just for kicks on one of my graded instruction exercises, I listed out all of my quals. The looks of confusion were priceless, especially when it got down to 18D/Breacher/SLJM/SOT/DV/PJ/MFF. It is alot simpler with the Army, SGT.

After finding out a persons Rate then you can find out what they actually work on by their NEC (Naval Enlisted Code) I hold 3 NECS
1121 - CIWS Block 1A
1122 - CIWS Block 1B
9502 - Naval Instructor

when i see ab3 i dont know wtf that is.

if i see ssg ranger i know its staff sgt ranger.

if i see lcpl (i think thats right fer the jarheads, if not im sorry) devildog i know its lance cpl devildog.

if i see tsgt chairforce ranger, i know its tech sgt chairforce ranger.

the other three branches dont throw some crazy ass made up letters infront of peoples names. i dont care about ur job. if i want to know it, ill ask. but i do need to know ur rank so i can render proper respect and courtesy.

the other three branches tend to be marines/soldiers/airmen first. then whatever job they do in the army. the navy, in my opinion, are whatever they do in the navy first, then sailor second, but it works for yall. i just wish i could see a person from the navy on afn and know what rank he is just from seeing his name, which u can tell with the army, marines, and airforce.

so yes, i do think its alot easier with the way the other three branches do that and not how the navy does it

shoot AF is easy too im a SrA meaning Senior Airman, my job is 2A353K, the 2A3X3 means im a Tactical Aircraft Maintainer, the 5 means im a 5 skill level which means im fully qualifed to work on the jet, the letter designates which airframe i crew, the K means F-22A

This has got to be the easiest for "Military Courtesies"... as long as us squids can count to 3... we're good! If we know the XX value... we doin't have to ask what they do... but we still know where we stand. All things answered at once.

We have to guess what an SGT is (Rank Wise) and is it the same in the other branches that use it?
