MAF sensor location and cleaning tips

Ok well im having a hard time locating the MAF sensor on my 03 3.4 I've read somewhere that if i have a K&N drop in filter in it the oils could dirty the sensor faster than a normal filter would.

Does anyone here have a pic of where its located and any tips on what to use and how to clean it? Also i just seafoamed it using the brake booster line and changed out the spark plugs what else should i do while im in there?

Thanks and i searched but couldn't find anything with the MAF sensor location.

 

Its on the side of the intake tube. Get some MAF sensor cleaner from a auto parts store its about 5 bucks.

 

so do i just spray the heck out of the sensor or lightly with a cotton swab?

 

Spray the heck out of it, then shake it dry like.... Well just shake it dry, more than two times is playing with it.

 

Just got in from Wal Mart with the Seafoam.Gonna try this Sunday I hope..

 

i wouldnt put seafoam on a MAF sensor.....

Do NOT use a cotton swap ONLY spray it with maf cleaner. The sensor itself is very fragile! Just spray in and around the sensor let it dry and shake it a little and your golden!

 

If you're using the right cleaner (JUST for MAF, not a general "electric or sensor" cleaner") it evaporates nearly instantly. You can literally spray a puddle of it and watch it bubble away in a few seconds. So, no real need for shaking it...it's super fragile. Spray the heck out of it. Set it in a safe place for a few minutes, install and you're good to go.

FWIW, I cleaned mine on my 130k mile '02, which had been throwing O2 sensor codes...sensor was dirty as heck. After cleaning the MAF...no more codes. Strange I know, but changing the actual O2's did nothing to stop the codes, so someone mentioned the MAF. I'm a believer now.
