They'll also use the same chassis for a reg cab with a 10' bed.

I believe they are going to have to introduce new powertrains because of upcoming 2016 EPA fuel economy rules. From previous experience and observation Toyota seems to usually be at least a year ahead of new requirements.

So I've done some searching about these chrome clad alloy wheels......

I wasn't sure what chrome clad actually meant but it looks like it could be one of two things: it's a steel or aluminum wheel with a cover that is either metal or plastic which is permanently bonded the the wheel.

I'm a little turned off by this. Does anyone have any experience with chrome clad?

    Thanks

I was thinking about this yesterday when the topic came up. A few years ago I noticed GM was using metal chrome clad then later Jeep and Ford using plastic. I wasn't to impressed with the GM style but really frowned upon the plastic. I have no idea how they hold up and they may be a type of cap that can be removed.

Tell the dealer you want the wheels/tires swapped for another set before you take delivery.

Personally, I like how the 16" alloys on the TRD OR's ride versus the 17" Sport wheels.

Pretty much all the factory wheels suck. These trucks are hell to oversize wheels on.

Good catch. Wonder if this is indeed a new design?

Hmm, these 1st gen. Tundra wheels are 17" if I remember correctly:

    Yes.

Not that real chrome plating on the rear bumper is any more durable...

It is. Bunch of chicks I worked with all owned new jeeps and dodges. All had that plastic 'Chrome' on their wheels. Take a pressure washer to it and watch the shit just fly off.

The "real" chrome plating on my bumper has corrosion pits after one winter.

How is the plastic chrome on your grille holding up? Granted it doesn't get covered in as much road grime as wheels.
