Hey guys, I was towing my trailer, (Appx #4000 fully loaded) and had the VSC come on while on a twisty, dry pavement road a few times. Scared me pretty bad. I was not sliding or anything to cause it to kick in, something tricked out the system. I have no lift, the truck is stock but am running 265/75/16 tires. I turned it off for the remainder of the trip, but whats up?

Was the rear sagging at all while towing ?

The skid control ecu seems sensitive to a nose-high condition .

What 'came on'? The beep-beep-beep or the light or you 'felt' some braking action???

Yeah, it engaged. Locked up one of the rear tires a few times each incident. The rear was sagging a little, I do have a weight distribution hitch, I just have it set up a little light. figuring it is a little safer to have it sag a little instead of nose high.

My truck would engage on stock suspension on curvy roads when I had a load in the back

Good enough. I have my answer now. Sounds like Toyota has it set up a little sensitive. I'll just turn it off when towing.

Since your towing 4000# more or less, go get the rear leaf spring TSB done and it should help with the sag. Its a free upgrade, and I am sure it will help with that load while towing. ;)

I just bought a aluminum 12' snowmobile trailer and unloaded weight is 495#'s and while driving my check engine light and vsc came on. I did not feel anything happened as far as brakes locking up. I did have to unhook the battery for 60 seconds to get the lights to go off. The trailer was sitting level and does not have brakes.

If you didn't feel a pulsing in the brake pedal similar to an ABS activation and hear a beep beep beep , then your VSC did not engage .

I did not hear or feel anything but the VSC and check engine light were on? What would you suspect for the warning lights? I have not towed since I reset the lights and it has not come back on.

Maybe there is some kind of issue with the trailer harness , I'm not sure on that one

I would check your trailer wiring harness, as this happened to me (10 foot snowmobile trailer :) )with an aftermarket harness. After getting the Toyota harness, end of problem.
