2001 fuel filter replacement

    Hello......I would think this would be a no brainer...but, I'm not sure on how to remove/replace the fuel filter under the cab, just inside the frame....the fuel lines are clamped (they are attached from the top...thru the floor, can't remove them)
    both sides of the filter and essentially the filter is wedged in....I'd appreciate some help...thanks

    Since you said it is under the cab, I guess you have a 3.4 engine? Here is a link to a write up for an 03 with a 3.4.

    It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
    Your lucky you don't have a 2.4/2.7L.

    It's a bitch the first time you learn to do it :(

    I have 85,000 on my Tacoma and I've never changed my filter. I guess I should buy one this week and replace it. Thanks for the link. Looks like a quick and easy job.

    It's not bad, but not as easy as it looks. The hard lines and filter fit tightly together, so a bit of carefully-applied "elbow grease" is required. (The careful part is to ensure no damage to, or cross-threading of, the fittings during removal AND installation of the new part.)

    Invest in some line wrenches before you go for it. Or else be extremely careful with the 14mm banjo bolt.

    Also it helped me not to have more than a 1/4 tank of gasoline in the tank. It prevents it from spraying everywhere, even if you depressurize the system.

    Leer camper, bug-rug, fox suspension 2.0 rear, fox 2.5 front, BAMF sliders and LCA, TRD fake 3 piece rims
    that's what I used.... Just one couple of notes if you never had done it before, 1) don't strip the threads can easily happen 2) don't be afraid to move the fuel lines to line up to the fuel filter threads. Good Luck.
