Anyone? 35" tires, 2" lift, custom fenders.

Howdy, I'm just begining my quest for a sick lift setup for my 09 Access Cab. I've always run 35"s tires on my jeeps in the past and I like that tire size; I don't really want to go with a 6" lift on my new Taco just to accomidate 35s. Has anyone gone with a 2-3" lift and some custom fender flares to fit 35s?

I still have to "use" my truck for everything so I'd like to keep it on the lower side of things while still running 35s. Of course a 3" with 33s would be easier but I like to maintain some axle clearance while aired down and I've got some sliders in the works so I can deal with a lower panel height of a 2-3" lift. Pictures would be great!

With some fiberglass fenders, some body mount trimming, the right offset wheels, and a FULL 3"(maybe 3.5" via CO's and UCAs?) lift you might be able to work it out. You would probably want a re-gear too. I'd like to see it done!

 

Oh yeah, I'm prepared to cut: I'd like to find some oversized fenders that mimick the factory cut/style and have them painted to match; I've seen some out there but they had kind of a flashy aggressive cut, not really looking for that, also I'd like to find some without that "riveted on" look. I'd like it look as natural as possible and also keep the stock wheels but I don't know if it's going to work out even with spacers, might need to get new wheels with some offset, plus I'm kinda wary of putting spacers on a rig.

I'll definitely have to change the gearing, I do tow and I'm not gonna be able to keep the stock ratio, plus I find LOW to be slightly on the high side already with the stock tires, and it's gotta be all functional too... not just look cool.

 

so are you just interested in some fender flares, or fiberglass fenders? I think fiberglass is best, they'll give the most clearance:

 

Good link, thanks man. Maybe I'll just mock a 3" lift, borrow a 35" mounted tire and try it on the lift to see how much I'd have to cut before I go buying any fenders; the wheelwells are tight as it is. Might have to rethink this one, don't really want to go full-body mod just for 35s.

 

That's pretty much the look I had in mind, maybe a scosh lower on the ride height (low as it'll go without any rubbing is my theme here). Any idea who made those panels? They look expensive...

Nevermind, I see it says Glass Unlimited in the picture. Looked them up, $750 for all 4 corners, not painted of course. I wonder if the bedsides would line up with my shell, it looks like they kind of buldge over the fender apex. Also those are a bit more of extreme shape than I'm looking for: ideally it will look like it was pooped ouf the factory with 35s, not all modded out but this route is definitely a good option, thanks.

 

There is one guy on here with a Black DC LB that has 35's and a 3" lift. Can't remember who it was though. I'll try and look for pics tomorrow and see if I can find it, I'm gonna go to bed now.
Also, check out the Acrtic trucks site if you haven't. They fit 35's-38's with minimal lift!

 

Think you'll be able to turn at all with only 2" and 35's? I know on my taco I had 9" and 37's, plenty of ground clearance. and just an inch or so from rubbing the frame with the wheel turned all the way.

 

^^^ That Tacoma, Pure Sex! BTW I am sure its possible with some wheel spacers, a lot of trimming and/or Fiberglass Fenders...Like said above, don't forget about the UCA's, CO's, and maybe Diff. Drop, and T-case Drop brackets. I recommend 5.13's for gearing, its just right in between 4.88-5.29. 5.29's might be a bit much...It is all Apples & Oranges...

 

Yeah, not sure if it'll work. I'm thinking it will be ok at full steer with some offset at a sit, but I'm not sure about full steer at compression; plus if I can get an "inch or so from rubbing" that's as good as a foot for me, it's gonna be a tight fit however I chop it.

At this point I'm not sure if it'll work while maintaining a factory appearance; looks like I'll have to go full fiberglass-baja-style to get the body/fender clearance, chop into the wheel well pretty heavily, and have a really wide stance... I do like that all-modded look, but the less attention my my truck draws the better, and I already like the styling. I might just have to suck it up and deal with the extra height of a 6" or just get use to 33s.

basically you have to modify your front body mounts by taking your truck to a metal fabricator, they can cut and plate them for clearance. you will most likey need glassworks fenders as well.. but you could just cut your stock ones to shit.

35x10.50s would, anything wider would pop beads left and right

Didn't know you could get 35X10.5s. I had 33x10.5s and they were hard to find.

I would "like" to keep the stock wheels, but there is no way i'll be able to if I go this route.

And I think you can get 35x10s in a "mud only" tire. Probably not DOT
