Yeah I can see why it is hard to believe. I have a pretty uneventful commute. I just got into work. Drove 21 miles and had one stop for a light. So the whole time I was at 1500 to 1900rpm.

I usually get to work 20-30 mins early so there is no need to rush.

I run Sunoco fuel from the same station 85% of my fills.

I know there is a dip in my mpgs when the winter comes. I usually drive with my headlights and defroster on both ways. I leave before the sun is up and get back after it has set.

I have to do some research but if I am correct our trucks force the ac on when we defrost the windows? I know the ac light doesn't turn on giving me the choice to turn the compressor off like my older vehicles.

If that was an option I would have better mpgs in the winter.

Last two fill ups my mpg's have incresed significantly with airing my tires up more. Apparently the firestone guys who installed them had no idea what should actually have been put into them.

Sitting at about an 18.5 to 20 mpg avg as far as I can tell so far. More tanks needed to really know.

I consistently get 375 miles from fill up to lit fuel light. For a DC 4x4 V6, I'm very pleased @ 20.83 mpg. After the light comes on, it takes 18 gal to fill up. Not bad.

Edit: Also, my Scan Gauge has helped big time.

i got an 010 DC LB Prerunner and i get 20-21mpg with a heavy foot, half highway/half town traffic with about a 7mi commute to work each way.

Let the tailgate down on the highway and I'm pushing 23-25 for those longer trips...

Your sig doesn't say, but are you 4WD or 2WD ? I am a 4WD so the extra weight makes a difference.

wow. driving habits make all the diff.

my wife and i just got back from portland. and there are some major mountians between us. my best tank was 21.3 or so..and my wife got 17.6. she is one leadfooted crazy woman. everything she does is extreme. she is hard on all the controls.

my best tank is 22.3. i just joined fuelly, and my ave is under 20. because of my wife fucking up my average..hahah. i also put in my off road trips. i have gotten 13mpg no backroad hunting trip, full time 4x4.

On Friday I filled my tank up with premium (92), and then I departed on a long trip which burned almost all of that tank. (I had the cruise control set on 70 for all of that time, and I have stock tires). Fuelly reported 22.6 MPG.

On the same trip on the way back I used the regular, least expensive grade of fuel and I was back to my usual highway averages, 20-21 MPG.

So, my quick read on this is that premium did give me slightly better mileage but not enough to justify the extra cost.

When I had 245's tires, I was getting 21-22 mpgs consistently. I upgraded to 265's, and now my mpgs are 18-19.

I might down grade a size in tire next time around.

I average over 20mpg most of the time, Keep a steady/light foot on the gas and avoid breaking on highway speeds. Automatic tranny will downshift if u take your foot off the gas so you wont have to break.

I see people on the highway speeding up and not breaking until they are few feet away from the next car even when they can see the same car from 50 feet away slowing down, You have to look ahead and let the friction/downshifting do the breaking.

Don't you think it was the smaller tires giving a false 'higher' mileage? With 265/75-16 my speedometer is now accurate (it read too fast with the stock tires). So going back to a smaller tire will make the 'number' of miles per gallon 'higher'... but you are traveling the same distance. I lost about 1 mpg (in readings) with the 1" taller tires...

Going almost a full tank on the interstate I got 23 mpg (DCSB with camper shell). Cruise is your friend, as is gentle accelerating.
I average about 20 doing almost exclusively highway driving an hour to work and back every day, engine is bone stock.

How on earth did you manage 19 in the city?

Best I've ever done was 18-17.
