Up and about already this morning. Leg is doing better, still a little stiff in the am, so I treated it with a heating pad.

I should have some grill mod pics up later this evening.

morning all! hey jim-glad my great grandpa didn't shoot either of your great grandpas,or vice versa. can't even imagine what those men went through. no reenactment could ever begin to duplicate the actual battles, let alone the aftermath.who knows, they may have even met, if they attended the 25th. annivesary of the blue and grey at gettysburg.

    Jim:
That is a very scary thought that I have had myself. My dad told me this when he was in his late 60's. He never talked about WW2 too much, which I came to find out why.

His unit was getting ready to land at Anzio and the men in his company drew straws to see who was going to stay on the beach with the radios. My dad and another guy got the short straws and had to stay on the beach. The rest of his company was wiped out. I feel lucky every day.

Made a lot of progress today on the grille install.

Horns are relocated, light bar installed and the lights are installed.

I was able to install the 12v relay and switch in the cab today. Cleaned up the wiring and yes we have light.

    DSC_0082_24ca686127830b8084f2f97efa938906ed1d2435.jpg

Tomorrow is the modding of the color matched grille and the mounting of the mesh.

My Pop never much talked about his time in the Navy..... but I wished I had asked before he was gone:(... Here is a picture he took after DDAY.
He was on a sea going tug and they were towing disabled craft back to England for repairs. Picture is showing it's age. "What if" has always been on my mind when it comes to life as I know it.....Ken

Nice pic Ken, TY for sharing. My mom was stationed in England during WW2 with the WAAC.

I guess we're all lucky we are here. somehow our ancestors survived the stone age, plagues, wars, disease, and a whole gauntlet of other things. here's a thought. in our family, the craig name was brought to america in the late 1600's. there are no longer any males that carry the craig surname. the family name is done. MABY!! there's another family of craigs here. they claim one of their relation had an illegitimate child, by COL. john, and gave HIM the craig name. there are men in that family that still have the craig surname,so maby it's still alive.

OK....I knew by reading this thread we might have some things in common (other than our age)!

My Dad never talked much about his duty in WWII either until a couple years before he passed away.
He also was in the Navy and was a rear gunner on a TBF, Torpedo Bomber in the North Atlantic. He was shot down twice....and somehow survived. Another time while taking off from his carrier, his plane lost all power and went down right in front of the carrier....coming directly at them full speed ahead.
I've said many times that I'm amazed I'm even here with what my Dad went through in the War. Much like many others.

I have his Navy locker that's been opened maybe a half dozen times since 1945. It's a time warp! His uniform, flight skull cap with goggles, boots, bomber jacket and all his medals. There's a pack of "playing cards" with all the Navy flag signals. He never smoked, but there's a bag of tobacco and rolling papers......un-opened.

I'm caught in a dilemma though. I don't know what to do with his stuff. We don't have kids that would inherit his things when my wife and I pass. I contacted a couple of WWII museums about donating everything and was told that only a fraction of items are put on display and the vast majority of donations are just stacked up in the warehouse. My other thought would be to sell to a collector and donate the money to a the Cancer Foundation in his name.

Usually I do not post lighting picks, because I am pretty bad at taking them. LOL.

This pic is just the spots taken with a flash.

Good morning folks! Wow!! Can you believe it's Tuesday already!!!???

This is a week of medical appointments- for our dogs and my mom. Took one dog to the vet's yesterday - if you have Labs you know what getting a "butt squeeze" is all about.

This morning, I take my mom to see one of her oncologists - been getting good news and hopefully this has the same results.

Tomorrow I drop off our 10 month old Lab at the vets - time to have her spayed.
