Honestly I'd suggest just driving down to your local distributor and talking face to face with a salesperson. After months of trolling c-list and the manufacturers websites, I finally went in and saw the product in person. Seeing all the different features and having them explained and demo'd for you while getting an honest price, it really can't compare to Internet research. I found that there was plenty of stuff I thought I knew that turned out to be BS when I went in. A big part of it for me was being able to actually hold the product in my hands, feel what was crappy and chintzy, and what was a solid legitimate product. There's plenty of different options out there but If you have the funds, I'd suggest SnugTop.

That's what I'm thinking. Unfortunately I only have one option for snugtop dealers, I don't expect them to actually have anything in stock to show me, and my prior experience with them was all crap. I may widen the search area and look for another dealer.

For those of you that have your shells mounted using the bed rail system, make sure to check the bolts. All four of mine had worked loose - Leer 100R.

What is the size of your trailer and how does the Tacoma do with it as far as towing ability (speed, climbing, etc.)?

Visited the local dealer that sells these because they also sell Snugtop. Turns out nobody down here is carrying Snugtop anymore because they have to ship too far and wind up broken.

But the Jason can't be had with an electronic lock on the glass, which I'm not too happy about. Looks like I'll be visiting the LEER dealer.

It is a 17' trailer. It does pretty well with it, i can get to 80 easily if i want but gas mileage drops significantly, climbing it does fine, have to take it slow going up to the Eisenhower Tunnel on I-70 in Colorado but that's quite a climb. Handling it does ok, my dealer ordered the parts for the rear spring tsb so we'll see if it gets a little stiffer under load. Overall I'm very happy with how it does.

Can you post more pics? I'm strongly leaning towards the same thing on an identical truck but in white. I'm going to have them do the roof rack tracks in case I want that functionality later on.

I know I can add them, I'd just rather get it all done at once.

Thanks for all the great posts guys! You helped me narrow down what kine shell to get for my truck.
Unfortunately, shells are really fricken expensive out here in the islands, but I really need one w/a baby now and heading into wet season. Had to order mine through a place on another island, and then have it shipped to me here. About $3200:eek: , but I don't have different dealers to go through, just one, so I get what I get. I got a Leer 100XR w/racks, can't wait!! I'll post pics when I get it early October:D
