This has probably been asked a thousand times but is it possible to get a remote car starter installed for a manual transmission 2009 Tacoma?

I got my Taco this March and haven't had to deal with a real Canadian winter with it yet. So I'd like to get a remote car starter installed before this November.

Also, what is the general price range I should expect, including labour?

You still must have to park it in Neutral, correct?

I'd recommend it, unless you want your truck taking off when you start it with the remote ;)

My driveway is sloped so I'll brave the elements and forego the remote starter. :rain:

I always leave my truck in neutral when parked.

you have to do a sequence before you shut the truck off, so that way it'll know that its in neutral.

I did a self install on mine using an Autopage System.

    Sequence is:

    1. Truck is running in neutral with you in it.
    2. Pull parking brake, release parking brake, pull parking brake.
    3. Hazards flash to acknowledge that you want Autostart
    4. Turn key to off position, truck will continue to run.
    5. Get out of the truck and close your door, lock with fob.
    6. Truck will shut off and parking lights will flash twice to confirm autostart is set.

System is obviously foolproof because if the truck is running and you are outside of it, it isn't in gear. The only pain is remembering to do that routine, otherwise the remote start won't function the next time you go to use the truck.

So this sequence is simply to make sure the truck doesn't start when in gear?

Also, will normal dealerships and/or electronic suppliers install for manual tacomas? Can someone give me an idea of how much this all costed?

I am NOT proficient with meddling with my truck to install this myself, so I'd like professionals to handle it.

Yes, you don't want to be able to start the truck while it's in gear....bad things will happen.

I paid $129 for the autostart itself, and invested 10 hours of my own labor to install, and countless hours of research leading up to the install.

Yes, dealers will install on a manual vehicle.
