Could this be possible for our trucks too?

I was reading this on Tundra Solutions.

Imo, I don't care if my truck beeps or not, but If I can activate my alarm just from setting something through the dealership computers, I'm all for it.

"If you can make the horn sound and lights flash by pushing the panic button on the remote, the alarm is there."

^ I've always wondered something like this, I was thinking, really toyota? We have a panic and an immobilizer, but no alarm from the factory! It can't possibly add THAT much to the pricing...and if it's like the Tundra, it doesn't take much to plug in a computer and turn on something.

Eh for 300 bucks you can have a really nice viper installed that will do way more than stock.

There are Tacos with keyless entry and power locks but no alarm?

My '06 had keyless entry and power locks but no alarm. I bought the VIP add on and completed the alarm system.

Now, on my '03 I was able to add just the glass break sensor and connect a wire that was taped off under the dash and I had the "hidden alarm".

Now well see, the tundras already have the VIP/Toyota Alarm installed, it just needs to be activated by the dealership.

I don't care for the GBS, or the hood latch alarm, those would be nice, but a basic door alarm is what im wanting first.

I'd prefer not to go aftermarket, especially if all it takes is a few clicks after plugging in a computer.

Yes, I know many have keyless entry, with Immobilizer, but no alarm.

Go in, put the windows down. Take the key back out, and get out of the truck closing the door. Push the lock button on your key, and wait about 30sec-1min. After that, open the door from the inside handle (the reason for lowering the windows) and see if an alarm goes off.

The things I loved most about my '04 Tundra were: No alarm, no immobilizer, and no seat belt chime.

I'm hoping to get a viper or bulldog security system, it'd just be nice to have

So then I guess for the Tundra they just install it, but don't activate it.

It'd be nice if our trucks are like that.

its just a horn like the panic though. no beeping

What? Include an Alarm, but don't activate it?

The VIP RS3200+ alarm add on is a whole wiring harness and several modules that need to be installed...

I did this myself and it's quite involved.
