Re-welding cross member

I installed a 6inch fabtech lift on my 08 Taco. In order to install it I had to cut the factory cross member off. I miss the factory ride of my Taco and now want to remove it. Is it possible to weld the cross member back on and it be as reliable and safe. I don't know how much stress that thing absorbs. Any input would be great.

Wow - never heard of somebody wanting to remove their 6"...

 

I'm not sure exactly what the problem is. I can appreciate the jeep like ride of a lifted vehicle but at 70mph or so it just seems to drift all of over the road subtly. And i"m not sure about coil overs. My lift is the fabtech 6inch suspen. Lift but its not the performance lift. The only shock replacement was in the rear. The front used the stock bilsteins just had a spacer.

 

Also what does guseted mean? I'm not familiar with that term

 

Maybe upgrade the front shocks? It's completely different, but when I went from the stock shocks to the Camburg COs, it was a world of difference.

 

yeah it can be put back to stock. i had my 2000 dodge ram 4" trailmaster removed and rewelded all the crap they cut out.

 

I may upgrade the shocks before i undo the 22 straight hours i vested in lifting my truck. Thanks alot

 

How much did it cost you to get your stuff welded back on?

 

to put the truck back to stock with all the parts i had kept.i had to buy 4 new shocks i gave away.$1000 so i sold the lift and 35" and rims for $1000. do you still have the crossmember???

 

gussets are metal plates welded on to strengthen joints. They are usually triangular at joints but there are also gussets that are just plates welded over another piece(2nd pic) to help strengthen the span of frame.

Okay I got ya. That is certainly beyond my abilities so i guess I have to shell out some cash. And yes I still have the cross member and all of the stock parts. However the cuts weren't exactly a perfect line so I'm not sure if that will pose a problem.

 

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I wanted to make sure that my truck could get back to stock before I let my lift go.
