1jzs are a 2.5l twin turbo inline strait six. They originally came in some MKIII supras and MKIVs as well as a few other lexus cars. I would NEVER put on in a tacoma. Go 2jz or 7m as they are 3.0l motors and have more bottom end torque. If you want a ton of info on these motor this isn't the site. Go to a supra sit such as Supramania or Supraforums. The crowd there is pretty harsh but tons of info.

Mines a 1jz vvti never put in a USA car the motor was redesigned by yamaha about 290hp and torque but japan has a gentlemans law so it might really be over 3 it came in a 97 chaser from japan they build 600 very easy and get better mpg than the 2j or older style 1j thats why I went with it

If I can get 400hp out of it in a truck that only weighs 2700lbs it'll be great for towing my boat then

Dont worry about it, just make sure you know what people mean before you start trying to flame others-
    Sounds like an interesting build!
Good luck, sorry we couldnt help you. Hopefully you find what you need- if theres anything else specific that you need, try look around here for help, but as far as the engine swap itself, it looks like youre on your own.

Mines also a single turbo engine and it came with a auto tranny which is what I wanted because physically cant shift a strait drive (handicap just her arms) and my gf won't learn this build will be equal to putting a 350 in my truck except I didn't sacrafise mpgs they actually take the head off this motor and put on a 2j (it'll fit even though the blocks are an inch diff.) and they call it a 1.5 jz but the torque is unreal and with no weight on my back tires and 800$ more for a 2j which is only 50 more hp this will be fine after a couple bolt ons

Use a 2jzge block. Much cheaper. However 1.5jzs are trick on the ECU side of things. You basicly have to go standalone and reprogram your own.

    Also i don't care if you get 600hp outa that 1jz, your gonna have crappy torque compared to a 7m or 2j. You'd have below 500ft/lbs at 600hp with a 1j and over 650 ft/lbs with a 7m or 2j.

    That's better.

Can't help you with the jz part but here's the FMS wiring manual for the 2001-04 in case you don't already have it.

Not sur what motor your truck used to have, but all the engine control schematics for all motors are listed.

I personally think you should take it to another professional. That wiring is going to be an absolute nightmare.

Also try and use more periods. Reading mile-long run on sentences gets annoying after a while.

    Good luck.

I found a guy that can help to today so the wired part is handled and just to verify something a 1j is the redesigned version of a 7m both 2.5s is you don't believe me I'll take a pic of the mark iii at work the 7m had alot of flaws so the 1j was the fix they don't run hot as bad and fixed head gasket problem a vvti 1j compared to a older 1j is like comparing a 4 bolt main 350 to a ls1 the vvti matches a 2jz torque where the 2j has 50 more hp but the vvti runs cooler better mpgs better head design alot of Lexus guys are swapping 2jz for 1jz vvti for better low end torque for drifting the power band is 2000 to 6000

You sir..are soooooo soo so sooooo freakin wrong. You literally have no idea what your doing or what you have gotten yourself into do you??

See..i own an MKIII...it has a 7mgte it in..i made it go from this...

    0103101502b_4c5365cf41da4eabffe6a3c42376004ac32508a1.jpg

    too this..

    P1171270_b6cfcf28180e88f1cb358ac1b7fd80b0144c5f2b.jpg

You REALLY sure about it being a 2.5l?? Cause if thats what you think. Your an idiot.

Maybe you should do a little reading...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Supra

Oh snap?! whats that?? and 7m is a 3.0l motor??? OMG!!

The 1jz did fix the HG issue, but it isn't necessarily a performance improvement. Mechanically more sound in stock form?? yes. But really most ppl fix the HG issue and the 7m runs just as good if not better.

As for this MKIII at your work, then only conclusion i can think of as to why you thing the 7m is a 2.5l is that it has a 2.5R badge on it....guess what numb nuts? The 2.5R MKIIIs...have 1jzs in them! They are rare but they are out there.

And 1jzs having a better power band??? LOL!!!! yea...no.

No supra motor has a power band from 2k More like 3.5k..1jz are the torqueless motor outa the three, they DONT HAVE THE DISPLACEMENT!

You obviously have no idea what your talking about and have a TON of reading to do. You do know that since your 1jz is single you need a lot of aftermarket parts to help support it right? New fuel system(AFPR, bigger Inj., Fuel pump, lines) And a way to tune it, custom drive shaft, custom motor mounts. And thats just a basically list. There are TONs of other stuff.

    Check here:
    http://www.supraforums.com/forum/forum.php

    and here:
    http://www.supramania.com/forums/forum.php

Surpaforums is a harsh crowd so i wouldn't post there. Lots of info tho.

Good luck, and quit being such a moron.
