If any of you have mods like headers and intakes, did you also have to install some sort of piggyback to the ecu or does the ecu keep the afr's in range by itself?

I was thinking of getting the trd intake but don't want to make the truck run lean. Just wondering about other people's experience with the supercharger and if any of you had problems with it after installing more mods.

The TRD flash is hit and miss. Some of the trucks out there run perfectly with bolt ons, others go from real rich to very lean.

I am running the APR X-1 as a piggyback, and it is hands down the BEST ecu tuning device available for the 1GR

I'm looking to pull the trigger on the trd cai but don't want to put something that would have an adverse affect on engine life. That APR is a nice piece of equipment but it looks pretty advanced and seems to be set up mainly for racing?

Easiest way to see how the engine is responding to the TRD flash is by getting a wideband AFR setup. Check your air/fuel, throw the TRD CAI on it, and see where its at.

The X-1 is for all tuning purposes, with keeping the engine safe as the number 1 priority. It comes with a feature called Engine Guardian, which will kick on if the engine senses any danger.

yeah that X-1 is an impressive piece of work. Must be nice to have all that control over the entire engine. Does it monitor wideband too or do you need to have a separate hookup for that?

I guess i'll get a wideband and see what mine is before I do anything.

It monitors both WRAF sensors, and you can wire in a Wideband gauge as well to see exactly what the ECU is reading.
