Leaf spring tsb

I bought my 2011 Tacoma tix trd on 9/06/11 and quickly found out how bad the rear end sags with any weight in the bed or a small trailer. So I went to the dealer this morning to find out about the tsb. They told me I had to make an appointment to have it looked at and then they would consult with Toyota. I quickly told them that would not work, I listed off the fixes in the tsb. The service manager quickly changed his tune and said let me call the local Toyota rep and get back to you. Well after about an hour and a half he called and said parts are on there way from Cali and would like to install first thing in the morning. So we will see how that goes tomorrow. I just hope I can talk them into installing the timbrens I bought since they will have it all apart.
We see how it goes hopefully the ride does not get to bad.

 

Why do you say the tsb sucks?
I thought about air bags but I think they would be more of a pain to air up and down all the time. I am a general contractor pulling a small enclosed trailer everyday.

 

The TSB '4 leaf spring' replacement is a definite improvement over stock.
If you need more after that, add a set of Super Springs. Anything you load that needs more than that, your plastic bed won't handle well at all..
Air bags are a solution with continuous problems, reserved for fanatics with money to burn...

 

Sounds like you're mistaking 'rear spring capacity' for 'proper trailer tongue weight'.
TOO MUCH TRAILER TONGUE WEIGHT!!!
Stock Tacoma suspensions (with TSB) can easily handle the max tongue weight rated for the stock installed hitch, class 3=500llb (that's less then two fat friends sitting on the tailgate).
FIX YOUR TRAILER!!

 

...and here I thought tongue weight depended on how many beers you had before selecting your mate.

 

Well thanks for your opion mastertech but my trailer is a 5 by 8 enclosed v-nose with a gross weight of 2795 pounds so if trailer was fully loaded and loaded tongue heavy the trailer should be well under the Tacoma limits.

 

Let me know what you think about the tsb when you get it done, I'm buying a 2011 trd 4x4 dc this month, and I will be hauling 2 dirt bikes in the back. Just wondering if I should have it done too. Does it affect susp travel/ flex at all after its done? worse ride? stuff like that.

 

I had the TSB on my 08 and liked it. Just traded the 08 in for an 11 and I wanted to get it done the first day I drove it. The three leaf suspension is squishy to me comparatively.

 

Well I got my truck back this afternoon. The ride seemed to be fine. The dealer also installed my tembren at no charge. We will see tomorrow what difference it makes towing. I can tell a big difference just standing on the hitch. I was shocked that they replaced the whole spring assembly.

 

When I had mine done it changed the height by 1 " and the ride was just fine. I am glad I did it. 8 months later it still rides up an inch or so. Zero squeeks.
