    truck has 78k on it right now, i searched around the forum and got alot of mixed opinions, i dont tow a ton with the truck but i do every now and then, i have no idea what the past 70k miles looked like for the truck as i've only owned it for 8 months or so, what do you guys think? flush it, or drain/fill, drain and fill only does about 3qts, i'm not positive but i'm sure the trans holds at least 4x that amount

    i'm having no shifting issues but i've serviced the whole truck BUT the transmission, being that i build transmissions for a living i have a pretty good idea what neglect will do to them, i dont want to risk driving it with burnt up fluid in it or risk damaging it

    It will shift smoother as from what i'm hearing for a full flush, and fill. Even though they put new fluid in, you tranny collects all the new metal shavings from all the new parts when new. I believe the drain is magnetic so you'll see.

    That was for the auto. It is/was considered a "maintenance free". That's why there is no dipstick. I'm not sure what the interval is for the manual.

    At that mileage i would just drop the pan change filter and add new fluid. Ive heard that if you wait to long a flush can really mess one up.

    I'm at 102k and have never done anything with the tranny. I've been thinking about doing it now that I am about to do all the 100k maintenance items. Not sure if I want to risk it though.

    Go ahead and do it... I had mine done at 60k... I do a lot of heavy towing so I figured the sooner the better... I didn't notice any change/better/smooth shifting... More or less piece of mind...

    i just called the dealer and they said between 90 and 100k, i think i'll just go ahead and do it soon and get it outa the way, $159 FYI, not as bad as i thought it'd be

    Iv drained and filled mine twice. 1st was at 60k, the other at 70k to try and get some more of the bad fluid out. Came out nice and red instead... so im leaving it alone.
