I'm looking at putting some new tires on this spring and wanted some opinions. Since my truck is a pre runner I need something a little aggressive just for peace of mind. My original plan was BFG AT's, but a friend of mine put some Firestone AT's on his 06 taco and they look good and he was told by his buddy who owns the tire store he bought them from that they are really good tires. IDK....

I know the BFG's will be pricey so thats why I'm asking, want a good 50k tire thats an AT and doesn't make too much road noise.

Yokohama AT/S are exactly what you are describing. Fantastic tires I have had on previous trucks.

If you can find them, they discontinued them. If you can't find the ATR's, the tire they replaced them with is the Discoverer AT3 and is still a great 50k+ mile tire that does not make a lot of road noise.

General Grabber AT2. Heard they last a long time, there is a review on Tirerack of a guy with a 05 Tacoma says he got over 95,000 on them. They look like the BFG and cost a lot less. I personally will be buying a set next month.

How many miles did he get out of them? The last time I bought off brand tires from Pep boys, they were cheap but I had to replace them in 15k miles. This was a while ago, they could be doing better now.

Dont buy the Pirelli Scorpion ATR... They only lasted me 28k and were not cheap.
