2 Low or 4 low

My dad has an old toyota with manual hubs. He can pu the tcase in 4low without locking hubs and get 2low. Is there a way to do this on the ADD with a switch? Flip a switch and it is 2low flip the over way and have 4 low

Why doesn't your father just twin stick it and pull the interlock pin out of it.

Then he can get a REAL 2Lo..



and no unless you use a driveshaft disconnect.

 

he isnt into crawling or anything like that its an 88 with the 22re in it. tough little truck

 

i thought i had heard of it before. Basically you either allow the trigger wire to engage the ADD or not with a switch i think. I tried doing a search with little help. Maybe I overlooked. and I will look over a ttora

 

it wouldnt be a good idea since the add only disconnects the right side. it would unnecessarily work on the diff

if the truck you are talking about is the 2000 you could get manual hubs for it off of a older first gen

 

If he isn't into crawling then no need for 2 lo?


If you just play around offroad...2Hi and 4lo is all you'll need.
2Hi for driving, 4lo for getting stuck and getting out.

My buddy's 83 is twin sticked, but he has a 4:7 rear case and crawl box in it also..super fun 2Lo with crawl box engaged

 

why would you crawl in 2lo

2lo is good for traffic, hill descending

 

You'd be better using somethin like this and making it work for front driveline

ahh i did not know it only disconnects one side. Thanks and I don't need 2low that bad to change to manual hubs. I like driving in the snow and engage 4WD without getting out. I rarely even use 4WD. I use it just enough to keep things working and even then i can tell i dont use it enough

 

Challenging.

We don't do rock gardens or anything of that like, 4 wheel engaged is not needed. What we mess around on isn't like Fordcye or Rubicon status.

We do alot of descents, small drop offs, small pop ups, and tree/brush climbing.

It's like a rollercoaster.

 

he just does it moving around heavy trailers especially where we hunt to move tractors and in without riding the clutch too much

 

So instead of just rushing up it..2LO will crawl up it

Tacoma cases are chain driven..you can't even twinstick it can you?

yea kinda... it would be nice to use 4lo when you dont need the traction of 4lo but need the gearing...

you can twin stick the fj case which is the same chain driven case but since its already lever actuated its easier. i dont know exactly how though...

Just got this one..gonna start building it sooon.

Probably lock the rear first, then twin stick it.
Then armor.

Don't plan on locking front, as truck is gonna get sas'ed eventually.

i dont want to crawl i dont even offroad but from time to time backing a heavy trailer it would be nice to have 2 LO for gearing and without using 4 low where it cant slip
