Hey guys, I'm pretty good, but not great, with computers and I just cant figure out why this problem is occuring....

Whenever I send an email from my business gmail account, the response from the other person always goes into a totally different personal gmail account inbox rather than the inbox for the account I sent the message from. This is causing me to delay responses to the senders since I dont see the messages in my mail app, and I dont like taking long to respond to important business emails.
I'm using the apple mail app on my macbook pro with the business gmail account setup, and its becoming a pain having to go online to gmail and log into my other account just to check and respond to my emails that should be going right back into my apple mail setup gmail account, which is setup only to the business gmail account i'm using. The personal one isnt even setup on there so I dont know why this started happening... I never changed any settings on the apple mail app on my computer, or the gmail account, or my email account's setup on my droidX, so I really have no clue what caused this strange issue. It worked fine until about 2 weeks ago, and then this started happening.
Anyone more computer savvy have any ideas?

    Thanks

go to your email settings and make sure everything is going to that email address.

email services such as gmail tend to have a email forwarding option or a reply to option.

Yeah none of those are setup that I can see. I've never used forwarding. I guess I can setup forwarding on the personal acccount to send the messages back to the business one? but that still isnt technically a 'fix' to my issue, just a bandaid of sorts.

The two accounts must be linked somehow? When you sign up for a gmail account don't they ask for another email address, basically a backup one?

And just to be clear, both your business and personal email accounts are @gmail.com addresses right?

I'm sure many of us could figure it out for you if we were sitting there in front of it... First off here, go into your gmail options and click on Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Tell us what it says in there.

See thats the thing, I've never linked them. I dont remember about that when signing up, but I'd imagine they would ask the alternative email address. Still I dont see how all of a sudden without changing any settings this starts to happen to me?
    Yes, both gmail accounts.
Yeah i bet you're right. Forwarding is not set up, just shows the button to set up forwarding.
    POP and IMAP enabled.

my shit's doing something similar. ive had my regular gmail for years and as of the past 3 a university email for school. my college outsourced it's email to gmail, so as of the past 2 years ive had 2 gmails. however, for some reason over the past 2 or 3 months if im logged into one, i have to log out to open the other. really a pain in the ass. used to wasn't like that. . . . this probably didn't help you at all, but thought i'd share since it's possibly relevant and might help someone help you. . . good luck.

If you can't get this figured out, I will be around this weekend and I'd be willing to remote connect to your machine and help figure it out.

To be honest, I've never messed with Apple Mail, but I manage several thousand Exchange mailboxes along with syncing them to Outlook as part of my job, so I may be able to at least see some red flags in the settings.

Let me know and good luck!

I've not used gmail much but it sounds to me like the "Reply To" address in your Business Account is set to your other email address. I think gmail will allow you to set a different email address as the "Reply To" address. I have mine set up to go to a forwarding account. If I send an email from gMail, it responds to my home ISP address (so I don't have to give out another email address).

As of now, I set of a filter to forward messages to my business account, and it looks like that is working for me.
I'll have to look into that 'reply to' option as well. Thanks evilmonkey

It'll be in the "Accounts and Import" tab under the "Send Mail As" section.

You can be logged into multiple gmail accounts at the same time. Open different browsers. Google Chrome, Firefox, exploder, etc.
