I'm hoping to get at least average 18-20 MPG; all stock and I drive like a grandma.

    I just recently hit 20.2mpg.
My truck is lifted, larger and heavier tires and rims. Camper top, with plenty of weight added into my tool box. Bed and cab are full of useable gear for any situation. I did however have to drive like a grandma which was made easier by the officers posted along the highway for my entire 3hr drive one way. Normally I get 16-17 mpg average.

In July I averaged 21.50 MPG on a trip from D.C. to Presque Isle Maine. Two days later I returned and drove the the whole way with the tailgate down and averaged 23.75 MPG. Both trips were in the evening and my speed was usually between 65 and 75 MPH. Did not use the A/C either way.

I've heard tailgate down gets you better MPG. I've never tried it in any of my previous trucks though.

Depends on the truck but generally no, tailgate down hurts your MPG. Mythbusters did an episode on this also. The tailgate up creates a dead space and air will flow over the tailgate, tailgate down creates drag (sort of like the big whale tail spoilers on drag race cars) and therefore hurts your MPG.

Last fill up I got 20.4 MPG

I have 4300 miles on my 2011 4wd double cab and I keep track of every gallon I buy (I drive it for work so I want to make sure I am not getting screwed financially) and I have an average of 20.1 MPG for those 4300 miles mostly highway at 70-75 MPH

^This is impressive. At those speeds I get horrible mileage.

Yesterday I achieved 20.3 mpg average in a 240 mile trip. I'm not to 50k miles on my odom yet, but i'm knocking on it.

i pulled down almost 24mpg with the cruise control set at 70 from atlanta to greenville sc. i still average around 20hwy usually, but that was my first unloaded long trip (my destination was virginia beach, ended up averaging 22mpg for the whole trip.) ive just passed 10000 miles and it seems my gas mileage got better within the last oil change. im much happier with the boost in mileage. when i first got it.. i was averaging 18hwy and couldnt break 20 to save my life

then again, atlanta traffic moves at incredible speeds.

Just curious, so you're actually doing a little bit better! I noticed I'm getting better mileage now that I went tires that are 1" taller. Correcting the mileage for the tires, I'm consistantly breaking 20 MPG :)

I drive the truck..... I cannot imagine driving it worrying about MPG... If one is fretting a few MPGs and driving gingerly here and there, perhaps a V6 Truck wasn't the best vehicle buying decision. That said I get about 16-18 and that's a gift.

Good for you... I don't need the V6 power all the time and when I don't, I drive to make the truck as economical as possible. If you like throwing money away on gas because you're too stubborn to be light on the skinny pedal, go for it!
