That's because they are a for profit company. The harder they make the test and more times you have to take it the more they make. I think it's stupid to have 4 right answers and you have tio figure out the order they want them in. It doesn't work very well for people who have worked on the street and know how the real deal goes down.

Congrats. I thought you were taking your National. Now the fun starts. How many hrs do you need for your internship? We needed 130 pt contacts and 540 hrs, its was such a bitch for hours.

The final for the internship contains a car sickness test. That is where the majority of people fail

I know a bunch of medic's who have gotten sick in the back. Especially coming down Mount Hood. Its very curvey.

I've alctually thrown up in the back, with a pt back there. I was sitting behind them and they turned around on the gurney and asked if I was okay. Then proceded to tell me I should go home. I was sick anyways but that tipped me over the edge. It wasn't even nad driving, my stomach just wasn't happy

Yeah, our fucking provincial body just changed their testing standards too to reflect this. Before it was 80% to pass. Across the board. If everyone get 80%. Every passes. Now these fuckers are grading it on a curve. They're making it so they have a guaranteed failure rate so they can keep getting people back to rewrite the test and have to pay a second time.

I hate our regulatory body. Nothing but money grubbing assholes under the guise of "Protecting and promoting EMS to the Community." Fuck you, fuck you and FUCK YOU!

Never heard of it. Also never been car sick. If I'm ill it's because I need food like now. Should just break out the oral glucose, but that shit is nasty.

I wouldn't let the studying stop though. Take a break during your clinicals, but keep studying through your internship. Then you won't worry too much for the national. Keep the knowledge fresh and the less cramming you have to do when the time comes

Yeah I heard about that. Talk about a shit storm. All I can say is if I get called to that, dibs on the triage vest. Someone else can have the MCI commander vest. I don't count myself that good to don that.

The provincial ambulance service went on strike right as I was finishing my program, so I wasn't able to do my practicum until the strike ended. That delayed my practicum by 9 months. When we were back on track, I did my practicum that took a few months, then dicked around because I lost motivation and confidence. Now, I finally realize that it's time to get my ass in gear and get it done. I figured I'd just work at the level I'm at now, and that the next level is only a dollar/hour raise so what's the point... Then I did a pediatric SOB call where she needed Salbutamol, and it scared the living shit out of me. Now I'm going to do my licensing.

Written exam is on Tuesday, practical is Oct 2.
