I had actually just turned it on so the mpg readout was inaccurate (the car is 2+2 but the backseat is worthless)

I went with the Stronic transmission which is the auto-manual. I like the paddle shifters, but I do miss having a clutch. lol I will admit though- the transmission shifts like butter!

Ah, didn't see the paddles. How does it work in manual mode, does it actually let you rev and lug the engine or is it like dummy-proof manual? One of my friend's cars has those paddles but the car computer still basically treats it like an auto and won't let you have any fun in manual mode!

I wasn't going to say anything because i have nothing good to say from owning an audi in my past but now that i see it's an auto i cannot refrain. you bought a girls car in automatic that is prone to problems and high repair bills.

I'm sorry to say that. Congrats on the car, i hope you are happy with it because that's all that should matter.

You will get bashing from posting this, if u want a pat on the back post this on an audi forum not a tacoma forum FYI.

You realise the TTS only comes with same S-Tronic transmission that his has - more power, upgraded suspension, etc? Why would they put an auto/paddle shift on a car if it didn't suit some purpose or wasn't fundamentally better for the application?

And other than the fact that the car is German, how is it any different than say a Miata, a car that repeatedly and reliably dominates most AutoX and SCCA events, but has terribly bland styling and is far more "girly"?

Congrats on the purchase and good luck with it. I'm an Audi fan myself. I'd love a new S4 or a used RS4 as a second car.

And not defending Kate, but she does have a Sprinter van to drag the kids around in lol(she lives 10 min from my house so I see her on the road from time to time).

I thought as a previous Audi owner (2003 A4 1.8t) I would share my experience with it. Bought it in 2005 with 20k on it. Within the first month the fuel pump failed. Then the shocks needed replacing. Then the intake manifold. Then a few more things I can't remember. All told the car had almost $ 15000 in work done on it (all under waranty) in the 20 months I owned it. The last straw was when 2 coil packs failed and was at the shop for a week. As soon as those were replaced my girlfriend went to pick it up, on the way home another one failed leaving her stranded. Goodbye Audi hello 2007 Lexus is250. That was a good car. But as you can tell that's gone now too. Anyways good luck. Audi's are nice cars in terms of style and the interior was still my favorite but what a pile junk the rest of the car is. I will never own another one. Just not worth the hassle. But I hope your experience is better than mine.

i do love when people buy things and preface it with, "i thought i would REWARD myself..."

i admit, i quit that way of thinking. now i could reward myself by achieving zero debt, besides my mortgage. now i let my purchases pass the "need" versus "want" criteria. my wife has beat me down. :( audi makes great cars.

I had an A4 1.8t Quattro. Real stand-up car, extremely fun to drive... Sadly it was in the shop more than on the road. But have fun while it lasts.

Thanks for posting the interior pics! Looks really luxury yet sporty! Makes for a nice weekend cruiser. I hope it won't be your everyday driver.

Great buy and congrats on your graduation!

BMW has those paddle shifters as well with their SMG transmission. Personally, nothing can take away the feeling of a manual transmission = ]

    Good luck in your carrear

I did the exact opposite. I went from a 2008 TT roadster to the Tacoma. I loved the TT like no other but I love my Tacoma too. I've never regretted the trade. Missed the TT yes...but no regrets. Congrats!
