Well tomm. Is monday can't wait to start making phone calls again. I hope I get more information on where my things are. But the best thing would be them telling me they found my stuff. Wish me luck.

The movers/packers screwed up my move too. Are the missing items listed on the inventory sheets? Hopefully, everything was itemized...one of the things that I wasn't told until it was too late. My movers/packers decided to keep things in the drawers and I came up missing quite a few expensive items.

Where did you come from. Im in the coast guard also and stationed on oahu. I pcs from california and I had a company called moore and moore come pack my stuff... they were shady.. I had a box of 200 or so dvds and i put like a pillow ontop of the dvds and they wanted to write pillow down for the description of the box contents. I had to watch them like a hawk. I got all my stuff in the end but they ripped the caster off my toolbox. I made them buy me a new one and there happened to be a sale on boxes when I went and bought mine and got a stainless steel craftsman one... way nicer than i had! I had taken pictures of every drawer of my tool box also and the furniture cause I was afraid it would be damaged... Let me know if I can help you out in any way. Once i got the paperwork filed it took them like 3 days to hand deliver a check to me. ALSO remember its for FULL REPLACEMENT VALUE not repair or prorated... dont let them scam you!

Look back through some of your pictures to see if you have pics of the missing items in the background. That 'may' help in the claim. The shipment could have been split when it was put into storage. That happened to mine. It was packed nicely when I left my previous base, put in storage and repacked by what I guess was a pack of rabid monkeys. We had several items broken, cracked, etc. The best thing do now is gather as much info as you can about the items missing and then create a list of to-do items for the next PCS, i.e. pics of high-value items, furniture (tops/corners/sides) make sure that furniture hardware is put in a bag and taped to the furniture it goes with or you hand carry if possible. (I see a new thread with PCS related info coming up...)

I lost all my household goods when I did a PCS from Hawaii. They got caught at a port in New Orleans when Katrina hit. That being said, I had USAA renters insurance and they covered my goods while in transit. If you place a claim with the Army, then you have to go through JAG and it is very painful process. Lots of paperwork and the wait time is months. USAA cut me a check when I found out how difficult it would be to go through he Army system for reimbursement. If you don't have renters insurance you need to have it asap. USAA has been great for me. Good luck.

well i got some good news. they found one of the "vans" a big wooden box with my stuff. i moved from wilmington nc to maui and guess where this van is.......oregon!!! how did my things end up there? it is crazy. they are still looking for other vans, i told them there has to be one more somewhere. only because i am missing an elliptical machine, a big piece of furniture, 22 boxes and my golf clubs. these vans are only 4 feet by 5 feet by 10 feet. so there has to be 2 more vans. but i am sure i wont get this stuff for another month or 2. anyway you guys know how i can get them to ship it here fast?

Well post your claims with legal after you upload them on move.gov... Then talk to a rep and see what they say. You get cash $$ for everyday after your final delivery date for being late on your stuff to begin with!

I'd be hesitant to allow anyone aside from myself move all my stuff. Fortunately I can fit every single thing I own inside my truck or in the bed, so moving isn't too difficult.

Always take pics of everything before allowing a company to move it. That way nothing gets "lost or damaged" in transit. I also wouldn't label a box stating that its full of electronics or any other item that is heavily desired by thieves, old clothing usually works well.
