    craigslist is your best bet. I look for them all the time and there is lots on there.

    like dark knight said. craigslist is your best bet. you can pick up a ranger or s10 dirt cheap.i know its not a toyota but you almost cant find a yota that cheap. samurai is a great 4x4 but the prices have gotton way way to high.
    i just sold a 94 dodge ram 1500 4x4 loaded for $800. is wasnt pretty but ran awesome.

    i had the same idea...Except i beat my 89 4runner into submisson, so the original plan of me driving it to keep miles off my tacoma backfired, and I drove my tacoma cuz the 4runner didnt run half the time..lol
