Read the TSB. It is not an "open option". People here seem to treat it as such, but it is not.

You yourself said you are not having any problem with harsh ride while carrying a load, which is what the TSB addresses.

Maybe the dealership deceived you and led you to believe that it is an "open option", in which case they're the ones doing something wrong. Whether it is the dealer, or you, or you and the dealer, someone or someones are trying to get something under false pretenses. Perhaps "stealing" wasn't the right word. "Fraud" is probably the right word.

If it bothers anyone that I point this out, tough. I was brought up to believe that it is wrong to do things that are wrong.

I guess I stole my 4th leaf when I bought my truck in Canada

If you can't tell the difference between buying a truck in another country equipped as it is sold in that country, and getting something through deception (whether by OP or by his/her dealer), then I can't imagine how I could explain the difference to you.

    I understand the difference .

You suggesting there is something wrong with a person in the US asking for the 4 leaf pack to be added to their truck as " stealing or fraud " is a bit over the top

No, there would be absolutely nothing wrong with writing a letter or calling the customer service number and asking Toyota to install the four leaf pack. They might ask if the owner has experienced a harsh ride when carrying a heavy load, and OP could answer honestly and say "no". Toyota might then go ahead and authorize the replacement parts as a courtesy.

That's not what's happening here and you know it.

As a matter of fact I was completely honest with the dealer. And they didn't seem to see a problem with it and frankly you don't know me and kinda pisses me off that your insinuating that im a theif. Just from reviewing your profile im pretty sure you molest barn yard animals .... I have about as much info on your situation to make that assumption as you do mine so have a nice day!

Ok, so you've stated your opinion and there are obvious people here who disagree. I don't believe it is stealing or fraud, if anything I believe Toyota let down their consumers in not putting the 4 leaf pack on the Tacoma in US from the get go. I actually feel that way about a lot of the TSBs, it just shows they've cut corners anywhere they could and don't offer to fix it until you call them out of it. The 4 leaf pack is a better option over time and will not sag in a few years like the stock 3 leaf pack does even if you don't load it down. What would you say to the people who have had their leaf packs sag on them after owning the truck for 3 years only to find out there was a fix to it and they no longer qualify because they're out of warranty?

He's entitled to his opinion, I actually agree with your side of the argument but there's no need for that kind of talk. This is the internet, no need to get your panties in a knot because someone is shooting their mouth off. Like you said, he doesn't know you and will probably never meet you, just let it go.

You are right , I understand that the OP wants the 4 leaf pack because he wants the 3/4" lift that comes with it rather than for the load carrying improvement .

I just don't care why he wants it , as far as I'm concerned , Toyota made a decision to put out the Tacoma with two different leaf pack configurations for the US and Canada , and for the $30k laid out , the OP should be able to get either regardless .

    Your opinion may differ .

x2. The tsb raised mine 3/4" too.

Get the tsb done, get the bilsteins all around and raise the front using the bilsteins.
