Saw two at the local Toyota dealer last night. One was a TRD with 18" chrome wheels looked like current sport wheels but blingy...

might have already been mentioned, I haven't read all the pages, but I HATE those parking brakes you have to push in/out with your foot. I prefer the one you have to pull out. Don't know why, I just can't stand it.

^ The parking brake hasn't changed with the 2012 truck. Autos get a foot pedal. Manuals get a T-handle. I would have preferred a lever on the center console, like the FJ Cruiser, but it isn't a big deal.

One drawback with the 2012 steering wheel: you must take your hand off the wheel to hit the horn. Currently, with my hands at the 9- and 3 o'clock positions, I can easily reach the horn with my thumb. For this reason, I will not be retrofitting the 2012 steering wheel.

i want to see what they did to the sunglasses storage and compass - it's in the mirror now? also the power lumbar bit and, of course, more entune shots.

i'm also surprised that more dealers don't have pics up yet. there's several hundred 2012s on autotrader but very few dealer pics. take some pics and them on the web already stealerships!

I have disengaged mine by accident on multiple occasions getting in the truck and hitting it with my foot. Good thing it's an automatic. I actually think it's kinda dangerous because of this. I've even done it getting out if I remember correctly.

Dont all 2nd gens have the foot parking brake? I'm with ya though, the pull-up hand brake is a much better design.

I've honestly never noticed it because mine's a manual and I think I've only been in an automatic 2nd gen one time, when I was test driving to buy one 4 years ago.

My mom's Highlander has it and I always forget about it. I can see how someone might hit it trying to get out. But yea, luckily it's an auto.

Apparently not the manuals. Mine is the pull out style from under the dash. Have to push the button, turn, and push in to release it. Seems more foolproof. To me, at least.

Thank you to OP....I bought a 2007 TRD 4X4, double cab long box done up Tacoma (6" lift rims, tires, stereo, , heated leather seats, many, many mechanical & cosmetic up grades) for $ 21,000 with OEM extended warranty to 180,000 km's all because once I seen the 2012 Tacoma I was not impressed enough to spend the extra $ on one.....ohhh and my 2007 FJ Cruiser had bulged fender issues....F$%king Toyota Canada! Any way Toyota still makes the best product regardless. In my opinion the only way they could greatly improve is a more fuel efficient motor. Love the Tacoma!

My thoughts exactly. The 2012 front end changes do not flow well with the older lines of the rest of the truck. I have a feeling we will see the 2013/14 with the new front end as well as everything else changing. Until then, I am completely content with my 2011. We'll see how the complete redesign turns out once it does happen.

They are putting different stereos in different trucks.

2012 regular cab 4x4. Notice the background color of the screen. It's not black like the others. The buttons are different too.

^ Shouldn't the regular cab have a keyhole to disable the passenger airbag? Did the switch get relocated?

someone on here posted that the airbag key was removed and they put a sensor in the passenger seat to control airbag on/off.

Just occurred to me in my post (3 replies up) that the dashboard color scheme is different. One has more black, the other more silver.

The key is meant to turn off the airbag for a rear-facing child seat. A weight sensor (which exists in Tacos since 2008 I think) cannot reliably distinguish a rear-facing child seat from a forward-facing one. I think the key got relocated (maybe inside the glovebox).
