what do you guys think of this? I'm thinking about getting some flat black vinyl on the hood along with doing the mid section of the lower bumper

if cleanl done, it'll look good. i've been thinking about doing that as well. lots of people do it when you have roof lights to prevent glare when they're turned on.

there is a guy over here in Tampa that does extremely good work, also I was going to see if I could get a "Florida Tacos" sticker made from him made that he could sell. I just need to see how much he will charge to do the hood and bumper and redo my fog lights.

EDIT: I eventually might do the roof as well

personally, the only reason i'm considdering it is because of the roof lights. i might just do the hood scoop and see if that helps first though

if you like it for looks though, and a pro could make it clean, go for it.

the main reason why I want to do it is do cut down on the glare on the hood from when the sunsets and when it is really bright outside

my buddy just sent me this. these guys are nuts. i got to wheel with a lot of them when i took the off road training course this summer.....the one where i kept hitting trees and denting the truck . they were talking about this trip a lot. they go once a year, and it's by invite only. 2 weeks of wheeling without seeing civilization. gotta be completely self suffient. they have one fridge per vehicle and carry ungodly ammounts of fuel. they said sometimes the terrain is so rough they'll only make it 2 miles in a day. makes me want a rover just so i can try to get invited :D

yeah, I wanna do the lower area, and like the idea of the vinyl being able to peel off and replace depending on my preferences for that year...

good info. there is a sticker/vinyl/printing place around the corner from where i work. they do a lot of automotive stuff. they have a scion tc out front all the time wrapped in black vinyl, so maybe they have some high temp version. i'll ask next time i have a chance.

I had vinyl on my black dakota grandad put it on in 97 when he got it (technically 96) never a issue thru that many summers. I even changed the graphics a bit and no issue.

I know sockmonkey sells the stuff to do it...its basically the same material that the bedside decals are made out of. I couldn't see them a problem, as many people have them. Ordinary soft vinyl would present a problem in summer though, you are correct.
