I want to mount my fire extinguisher inside the cab somewhere on my 1st gen double cab. This is my daily driver, so I'd like it somewhere that's not in the way or obvious, but also easily accessible (obviously!),.

    Any ideas????

under the seat? It will be pretty difficult unless you have a cage.

I thought about that, and I have it just sitting under the passenger seat now, but I was hoping to put it somewhere easily reachable from inside the cab, but isn't intrusive for me or passengers (or my kids) while driving.

I have an amp mounted under the driver seat, so that takes up all that space.

I'm now trying to decided between two spots:

    1) Mounted on the rear floor in between the two seats. Easily reachable, but seams kind of exposed to kids' feet...

    2) On the far left side of the floor in the rear, in that little crook between the rear door and the seat. Not as easily reachable, but totally out of the way.

I'm leaning towards option 2 at this point...

Damn lots of fires Chris? ;)
If you have small legs, mount it on kick panel.
Or on backside of center console

Are in-cab fires a realistic scenario? I fires under the hood or under the truck are more likely, so a bed-mounted extinguisher makes sense.

I heard if your vehicle has a fire extinguisher you can get a deduction on your car insurance:eek:

Ive been witness to a few car accidents that needed a little bit of fire control, and a lawn mower incodent.

Ive been in a vehicle that caught fire, and even though the front was in flames, no fire got into the cab. Now an electrical short could cause a fire inside, but thats very rare. If you want an extinguisher for iside, you should consider an H3R, or Halon (if you can find one), as they leave no residue. As for the mounting, Being as most all fires I have seen, have been outside of the vehicle, I chose the bed location. First.....You DONT want to be inside of a vehicle, with a fire next to you. If the inside catches fire, GET OUT. Fire very rapidly consumes oxygen, and aside from the panick, you can loose your witts trying to fight it in a small confined space. Second....Uppon exiting the vehicle, 2 steps to the rear, and the fire extinguisher is readily avialible. The small units dont give time to be putting out a large fire, but are fine for a small one, or to buy some time before the pros show up. The one I carry was perfectly fine for putting out a medium sized engine fire. Another thing to consider.....If carrying inside, if you accidently nock the safety pin out, and hit the trigger.....Its a bitch cleaning all the fire suppresant shit out of a cab.......just sayin.

It has a quick release. One flip of the release, and its free.

Exactly. I havent had theft issues, as out of all the extinguishers I have unsecured, I have only ever lost 1 in over ten years. 1 was used by someone else who happened to see I had one ready in the truck, and was in need, and the user offered to replace it.

this was my thought. If there's a fire inside, I'm getting my kid (and maybe the wife) out, first, then worry about everything else later.

I more want it inside for easy of access (not having to run to the bed for an engine fire) and to keep it out of reach from d-bag high-school kids (I live near a HS).

I guess when this rig gets turned into a primary trail rig (instead of trails/daily driver), I'll put one on the outside, too.
