their was this huge pothole that i didnt see because it was covered in water (wasnt raining here, probably from a sprinkler) on a busy 6 lane street (Pacific Coast Highway), this thing is huge! bent my wheel and im curious what do i have to do to go about the city paying for the replacement tire/wheel and alignment for this damage. anyone run into this type of situation?

Good luck getting anywhere with any d.o.t. paying up. There are places that will fix that rim for you. I work at a dealer and there's a guy with a trailer... The rim goes in fubar, comes out looking new, I'm going to have him refinish my oem sport rims. They are bubbling and peeling.

Well it would be nice but really your taxes are paying for it in the end. I didnt think any state has the extra money to be paying people for road hazard

the pothole is coming up to a street were i had to turn right on. of course i wasnt ridding right next to the curb, but their was so much cars next to me, i had no room to even move to the side to avoid it without either almost hitting the car or causing a chain reaction of other cars moving to the side maybe causing a bigger accident. knew the wheel bent on impact. this thing is deep, and huge. if it was on a small street i would understand, but this was on a huge busy street infront of a mcdonalds and jack in the box. i have video i took of other trucks and cars hitting it hard.

Don't know about your city but around here the City will pay for damages like this. Most people just don't think to check it out.

I don't know how f'ed up other cities are, but a pothole blew out one of my tires on my old car and the city payed for it. You pay city taxes, so call your DOT and file a complaint. You have pictures for proof.

Go to the caltrans web site, and find the damage claim form. they will cover it.
One of my buddies had a rock hit his windshield in an area where the pavement was falling apart. He filed a claim and they sent him a check for $500.00 You will need a written estimate from a body shop or In your case a tire shop
