    Hello,

I have a local contact in my island that is fabricating snorkels. Their prices seem competitive, but in all reality I am no expert in this area. Seems he will do snorkels for around $125.00 + shipping.

I am pretty much just seeing if anyone is interested in this. He can make snorkels for most if not all vehicles, and they are made specifically for the vehicle.

If anyone is interested, please say so on this thread, that way I can see the interest and perhaps setup a group buy or just regular buy.

Also, id be the one handling the shipping, since he is just a fabricator and does not want to get hassled with that. There will be no charge for me picking up the snorkels and sending them to you. Also, I would ship anywhere, as long as the buyer pays it.

I do have some interest, but I also do have a few concerns as well.

They being more than half off from ARB, I do have to wonder about the quality. (Although I do believe ARB is making people pay for the name and easily marking up the product 300% or more). Maybe good pics and such, or a 3rd party review would be good.

And the other concern, is, of course a general concern when buying anything from an individual located outside the states. Best way to alleviate this is to make it clear how payments, shipping, time frame, etc would be handled so that both parties feel safe in the transaction.

I know the ARB one comes with templates to make it as easy as possible with a low possibility of mistake. Anything like this for this kit?

2nd gen only, or 1st gen as well?

That being said, if everything checks out to my satisfaction, I'd be interested for that price.

Well. Basically what I'm doing is looking at interest. Once I see if there is enough, id post much more detailed information.

For example, id probably try and get a few pics of them mounted on Tacos as well as detailed photos so that you guys can see their quality. I'm also going to be the first to look at their quality and be very picky. If I notice it is not a good product, this will be called off. However, as far as I have seen, their product is comparable to any other snorkel.

As far as payments, shipping, etc.

Payments - id have to talk with the guys at the company. Depending on the deal I work with them, it might be pay half or pay completely and I ship kind of thing. Remember I am not making any money whatsoever on this, so I do not plan on buying the stock myself, to then ship it. I am just doing this, as I saw an opportunity for people who need this kind of thing.

Shipping - Usually USPS is cheaper than anyone here. Shipping to the states is not any hassle at all since we are part of you in a way... just like Hawaii, Alaska, etc.

Time frame - Depends on how they set me up. As far as I can see, they have some stock on warehouse, but it is likely that they will have to make more if this group buy/regular buy catches on. Also factor in the time I have to dedicate to pick up the parts and ship them away. I am the owner/boss of my company, so I do have work to do and won't be picking up/shipping everyday. Ill try and be more specific on this later, but basically, as soon as it is made, it's on a box getting shipped to you.

I would figure they will be able to hook people with both Gen 1 and Gen 2 Tacos, since their way of thinking is: "If it doesn't exist, we will make it custom for you."

What everyone else said. If he can make them look like the ARB snorkel for that price then he will soon see his bank account grow.

As far as mounting. They will not come with any cutouts.

As far as pics. If I am able to make it this week to their shop (not likely cause im swamped with work and my Taco is in the body shop till wednesday :frusty:) ill take plenty. In any case, I should be able to get some pics before or by next weekend.

As far as a review. Hmmm. I'd have to see if I can find any members here in PR that want to do a review, since I guess mine won't count for much. I know there is a couple here.

Only pic I have so far... and it is a far looking pic... is this. Lol.

Friends have. However they run Jeeps, not Toyotas. I was going to get one, but I decided to route my intake another way, since I really did not want the look of a snorkel on my Tacoma. Hell, i'm even about to shave the antenna.

Well I meant make them look "GOOD", I've seen some people make custom snorkels but all they are is pvc pipes connected together

Lol. I was about to post a funny pic of one, like what you are referring to... but then people would think that is what is being offered...

    Damn!

Yeah, dont worry. It's not a PvC pipe thing. Look at the pic. :)

that would look good if you could eliminate the "elbow" fittings and bend the pipe like could bending "pipe"

That's just PVC, I don't think there's any way members would put a hole in their truck for that! If they would, I've got a cheap snorkel for ya, under $50 :D

I was just being a smart ass since the OP didn't have pics of the snorkel and it's so cheap
